Garden arbor and picket fence separate the side yard from the front yard creating outdoor rooms. The view to the front yard frames a sitting area with Adirondack chairs.

New corten steel raised garden bed helps level this sloping front garden in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne. Sprawling plants help to soften the edges, with clipped English Buxus balls and silver birch trees creating a sense of order and drama. Laser cut metal wall art clads onto the driveway fence (also with a modern rust finish). Image by Benjamin Carter of Boodle Concepts Landscaping.

Rainwater flow from the roof downspouts and overflow from the tank feeds this dry creek bed during rain events to help slowly percolate water into the hillside.

This is a landscape garden design and sod installation work by Long Island Landscape contractor "New York Plantings Garden Designers and Landscape contracting". One common fix for a steep slope or grade is to build stone retaining wall, staple the sod so it will establish easily. Laying Sod on a hill we should always mulch around surface rooting trees. An understated row of Ornamental Pear trees sit in from of a freshly Dulux-painted boundary fence in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
Galvanised steel trellis on timber posts provides height and drama to the garden space, allowing Star Jasmine to climb up the vertical garden and screen out the neighbours (adding privacy). A freshly positioned boulder retaining wall gives the space an organic feel.
Invigorating grasses add a lush element to the back yard, colour matching the artificial grass. Groundcovers cascade down and soften the severity of the timber retaining walls.

We turned this eyesore into the envy of the neighborhood! This highly visible hillside was the focal point upon entering thru the gated entrance of this home. Now the owner and guests enjoy a seasonal display of color and texture rather than a weed filled boring hillside. Added bonus is that the plants are all drought tolerant, low maintenance and support pollinators. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial insects add additional interest.
