Source : Ancient Surfaces Product : Basalt Stone Kitchen Sink & Countertop. Phone#: (212) 461-0245 Email: Sales@ancientsurfaces.com Website: www.AncientSurfaces.com For the past few years the trend in kitchen decor has been to completely remodel your entire kitchen in stainless steel. Stainless steel counter-tops and appliances, back-splashes even stainless steel cookware and utensils. Some kitchens are so loaded with stainless that you feel like you're walking into one of those big walk-in coolers like you see in a restaurant or a sterile operating room. They're cold and so... uninviting. Who wants to spend time in a room that reminds you of the frozen isle of a supermarket? One of the basic concepts of interior design focuses on using natural elements in your home. Things like woods and green plants and soft fabrics make your home feel more warm and welcoming. In most homes the kitchen is where everyone congregates whether it's for family mealtimes or entertaining. Get rid of that stainless steel and add some warmth to your kitchen with one of our antique stone kitchen hoods that were at first especially deep antique fireplaces retrofitted to accommodate a fully functional metal vent inside of them.

A 1960's bungalow with the original plywood kitchen, did not meet the needs of a Louisiana professional who wanted a country-house inspired kitchen. The result is an intimate kitchen open to the family room, with an antique Mexican table repurposed as the island.

The minimalist kitchen is always a winner. The kitchen features Skyros gold marble countertops with flat polished edges. To keep the look simple, the sample marble slab was used as a full height splash. To complete the look Suber wire brush wood looking porcelain was selected.

The historic restoration of this First Period Ipswich, Massachusetts home (c. 1686) was an eighteen-month project that combined exterior and interior architectural work to preserve and revitalize this beautiful home. Structurally, work included restoring the summer beam, straightening the timber frame, and adding a lean-to section. The living space was expanded with the addition of a spacious gourmet kitchen featuring countertops made of reclaimed barn wood. As is always the case with our historic renovations, we took special care to maintain the beauty and integrity of the historic elements while bringing in the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. We were even able to uncover and restore much of the original fabric of the house (the chimney, fireplaces, paneling, trim, doors, hinges, etc.), which had been hidden for years under a renovation dating back to 1746. Winner, 2012 Mary P. Conley Award for historic home restoration and preservation You can read more about this restoration in the Boston Globe article by Regina Cole, “A First Period home gets a second life.” http://www.bostonglobe.com/magazine/2013/10/26/couple-rebuild-their-century-home-ipswich/r2yXE5yiKWYcamoFGmKVyL/story.html Photo Credit: Eric Roth

This is a close up shot of some gorgeous cabinetry made here in Aiken by Kelley Cabinetry. We designed this kitchen to look very old but it was an entire gut job renovation. Mast Construction was the GC. Olin Redmon Photography

Take a moment to enjoy the tranquil and cozy feel of this rustic cottage kitchen and bathroom. With the whole bunkie outfitted in cabinetry with a warm, neutral finish and decorative metal hardware, this space feels right at home as a welcoming retreat surrounded by nature. ⠀ The space is refreshing and rejuvenating, with floral accents, lots of natural light, and clean, bright faucets, but pays tribute to traditional elegance with a special place to display fine china, detailed moulding, and a rustic chandelier. ⠀ The couple that owns this bunkie has done a beautiful job maximizing storage space and functionality, without losing one ounce of character or the peaceful feel of a streamlined, cottage life.
