Complete transformation of 1950s single storey residence to a luxury modern double storey home
Storie Collective
Boho meets Portuguese design in a stunning transformation of this Van Ness tudor in the upper northwest neighborhood of Washington, DC. Our team’s primary objectives were to fill space with natural light, period architectural details, and cohesive selections throughout the main level and primary suite. At the entry, new archways are created to maximize light and flow throughout the main level while ensuring the space feels intimate. A new kitchen layout along with a peninsula grounds the chef’s kitchen while securing its part in the everyday living space. Well-appointed dining and living rooms infuse dimension and texture into the home, and a pop of personality in the powder room round out the main level. Strong raw wood elements, rich tones, hand-formed elements, and contemporary nods make an appearance throughout the newly renovated main level and primary suite of the home.

Painting this kitchen's cabinets in Sherwin Williams "Alabaster" (for the range wall cabinets) and Benjamin Moore "Iron One" (for the fridge wall and island) completely transformed this space.

The Modern Spanish kitchen offers a space for a young family to enjoy. Equipped with a modern island, white cabinets, a white plaster hood, beige Spanish tile floors and clean details.
Dragonfly Designs
Slate Gray painted alder cabinets mixed with those fashioned from distressed oak keep the kitchen "piecy", as if renovated over time. We varied the styles and materials to provide an historic interest. Open shelves in reclaimed oak and antique iron brackets allow for casual and "at your fingertips" storage. Pantry with built-in cabinetry, patterned marble floors, and natural wood pull-out drawers

The sink wall layout is pure symmetry, with dish drawers on the left, double waste on the right and butternut floating shelves above. A long marble backsplash eliminates the need for tiles.
