The brief was to restore the home to its former glory whilst accommodating existing cherished furnishings, to include the Chesterfield sofa, coffee table, dining table & chairs, Persian rug & hall runners. To make the quirky furnishings work with the Victorian restoration I balanced bold colours & textures with more traditional flooring & timber veneer colours throughout the home. The kitchen pendant light is a custom designed piece in collaboration with Magins Lighting. The orange splash back tiles (hand made through DeLorenzo Tiles) compliment the dining & lounge floor rugs & balance the room. The blue grout - the icing on the eclectic cake!

A beautiful Hamptons kitchen featuring slimline white shaker and V-groove cabinetry, Carrara marble bench tops and splash back with fluted glass with black and timber accents. A soaring v-groove vaulted ceiling and a light filled space make this kitchen inviting, warm and fresh. A black butlers pantry with brass features punctures this space and is visible through a steel black door.

David Reeve Architectural Photography; The Village of Chevy Chase is an eclectic mix of early-20th century homes, set within a heavily-treed romantic landscape. The Zantzinger Residence reflects the spirit of the period: it is a center-hall dwelling, but not quite symmetrical, and is covered with large-scale siding and heavy roof overhangs. The delicately-columned front porch sports a Chippendale railing. The family needed to update the home to meet its needs: new gathering spaces, an enlarged kitchen, and a Master Bedroom suite. The solution includes a two story addition to one side, balancing an existing addition on the other. To the rear, a new one story addition with one continuous roof shelters an outdoor porch and the kitchen. The kitchen itself is wrapped in glass on three sides, and is centered upon a counter-height table, used for both food preparation and eating. For daily living and entertaining, it has become an important center to the house.

The original doors to the outdoor courtyard were very plain being that it was originally a servants kitchen. You can see out the far right kitchen window the roofline of the conservatory which had a triple set of arched stained glass transom windows. My client wanted a uniformed appearance when viewing the house from the courtyard so we had the new doors designed to match the ones in the conservatory.

This classic DEANE Inc kitchen has all the greatest custom features from its unique carriage doors allowing for a rush of sunlight, as well as it’s stainless steel accents through the custom cabinetry and the countertop stools. This expansive Manor Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail.
