Our client wanted to convert her craft room into a luxurious, private lounge that would isolate her from the noise and activity of her house. The 9 x 11 space needed to be conducive to relaxing, reading and watching television. Pineapple House mirrors an entire wall to expand the feeling in the room and help distribute the natural light. On that wall, they add a custom, shallow cabinet and house a flatscreen TV in the upper portion. Its lower portion looks like a fireplace, but it is not a working element -- only electronic candles provide illumination. Its purpose is to be an interesting and attractive focal point in the cozy space. @ Daniel Newcomb Photography

This traditional sitting room has an oak floor with a tv cabinet and console table from Bylaw Furniture. The tv is on a bracket which allows the tv to be pivoted for comfortable viewing from the sofas. The sofas are by the Sofa and Chair company, and are teamed with a bespoke upholstered ottoman. The curtains are in James Hare Orissa Silk, teamed with Bradley Collection curtain poles. The inglenook fireplace houses a wood burner, and the oak lintel creates a traditional feel to this room. The original oak beams in the ceiling ensures this space is intimate for entertaining. Photos by Steve Russell Studios

This is an elegant, finely-appointed room with aged, hand-hewn beams, dormered clerestory windows, and radiant-heated limestone floors. But the real power of the space derives less from these handsome details and more from the wide opening centered on the pool.

The sunken Living Room is positioned next to the Kitchen with an overhanging island bench that blurs the distinction between these two spaces. Dining/Kitchen/Living spaces are thoughtfully distinguished by the tiered layout as they cascade towards the rear garden. Photo by Dave Kulesza.

The main living area of the house is a large open plan kitchen/living/dining space. The clients wanted to stay true to the classic blue and white scheme they have always dreamed of so a layering of pattern and texture was the best way to create the perfect look. so the TV wasn't the main attraction we opted for a Samsung Frame TV over a console. When he TV is off it looks like a beautifully framed family photo.

When the green velvet fabric came across Studio L's desk they knew it had to be used. Ben Whistler made the elegant bespoke sofa which is a fan favourite! The walls are covered with a glazed abaca textured wallpaper. And to help disguise the bulkhead and tame the vaulted butterfly ceiling, Studio L also covered it in a silk wallcovering all by Phillip Jefferies. The ceiling has a slightly iridescent sheen that, depending on the light, gently changes colour yet is always flattering. Photography by Nick Rochowski

Natural tones run throughout, with each room boasting its own palette. The living room looks to autumn for inspiration, with earthy colours, burgundy accents and pops of black that tie in with the window frames. The living room was tweaked to create a large seating area with a corner sofa and a separate reading area. We also designed a contemporary fireplace, with an easy-to-use bioethanol fire.
