Custom designed second row for the beach home, in a gated plantation on Hilton Head Island. The kitchen is open to the central great room and dining area, creating an open floor plan.
We chose colors and materials which compliment the surrounding area with soft tones and hues. I worked closely with the client and we went through multiple design options, each honing in closer to the end result. We achieved a home with character, detail, and one that matches their lifestyle.

The kitchen in this Brooklyn brownstone was gut-renovated to reveal the home's original brick cooking hearth—which was fashioned into a beverage station/home office area with a marble slab forming the tabletop. We continued the marble on the countertops and created a waterfall kitchen island that easily seats 3 for informal dining. Antique brass and matte black accents provide contrast. Appliances are stainless steel. Textured ivory and white custom cabinetry by Semihandmade also feature. An antiqued mirrored-tile backsplash adds visual interest and makes the kitchen seem larger.
DANE AUSTIN INTERIOR DESIGN Boston & Cambridge
This chic couple from Manhattan requested for a fashion-forward focus for their new Boston condominium. Textiles by Christian Lacroix, Faberge eggs, and locally designed stilettos once owned by Lady Gaga are just a few of the inspirations they offered.
Project designed by Boston interior design studio Dane Austin Design. They serve Boston, Cambridge, Hingham, Cohasset, Newton, Weston, Lexington, Concord, Dover, Andover, Gloucester, as well as surrounding areas.

Here we have a beautiful, individually designed and handmade kitchen that has recently been installed into a country residence. The client was looking for an Asian inspired design having traveled extensively in India.
We made a shaker style kitchen with a fusion of British & Indian influenced shapes and moldings that were created especially for this client.
Domus Nova
The adjoining kitchen features contrasting shapes and forms of wood, to give a more humble feel - again resonant of the
Americas and their earthy connotations.

Mercury Mosaics and Tile
We absolutely adore this retro kitchen. The bright appliances and checkerboard floor make this the perfect place to just "chill". Top it off with out handmade Bubbles tile as a focal point behind the stove and as "floating" accents in the field tile and we don't think think kitchen could get any better.

The existing kitchen was opened up to the dining room, bridged by the addition of a peninsula cabinet and counter. Custom center island with chopping block top. Custom sofa (not in frame) on the left balances out the room and allows for comfortable seating in the kitchen.

Kiel's woodworking talents are in full effect in the kitchen. Rather than incorporate pre-fabricated cabinets into the newly rebuilt space, he decided to build them himself, affording the home the custom work that it so deserves. "It didn't make sense to put in the same fiberboard cabinetry that was there before", he confesses. Part of the plan called for open shelving up top to show off Chelsea's colorful plate collection. "One of the perks of being married to a wood worker", Chelsea jokes, "is having an entire kitchen worth of cabinets for the cost of wood and paint!"
The couple outfitted the antique sink with a modern spray fixture from IKEA. The enameled cast iron sink was not only a steal at $25, but it is certainly made to last. "Often we buy older pieces which have been around for 50+ years because we know that if they have survived this long they will likely survive another 50", she says.

Projet Wabi-sabi
