A mid century modern bathroom for a teen boy.

This unfinished basement utility room was converted into a stylish mid-century modern bath & laundry. Walnut cabinetry featuring slab doors, furniture feet and white quartz countertops really pop. The furniture vanity is contrasted with brushed gold plumbing fixtures & hardware. Black hexagon floors with classic white subway shower tile complete this period correct bathroom!

What started as a kitchen and two-bathroom remodel evolved into a full home renovation plus conversion of the downstairs unfinished basement into a permitted first story addition, complete with family room, guest suite, mudroom, and a new front entrance. We married the midcentury modern architecture with vintage, eclectic details and thoughtful materials.

This complete remodel was crafted after the mid century modern and was an inspiration to photograph. The use of brick work, cedar, glass and metal on the outside was well thought out as its transition from the great room out flowed to make the interior and exterior seem as one. This is truly a magazine cover worthy Master Bathroom. The home is pre-civil war and this space was originally a spare bedroom that we converted into a master bathroom. The flooring was originally heart pine which is so rare we carefully removed it to re-use it in another pat of the home. Customer wanted a modern bathroom that still had a lot of the charm of the original style of the home. Back in the day a bathroom like this would have been all marble, we chose to go with a marble looking porcelain tile so that the maintenance is minimal. We tiled the entire floor in a herringbone pattern and did a vertical staggered stack on the walls using all 12x24 large format tile. The vanities are a sleek modern European style with a traditional sit down vanity for the lady of the house. The countertops are Quartz. We custom made the shower with a wall niche and built in seat with a custom made shower door and half wall panel. Attention to detail in everything including the brass light fixtures and brass mirrors. This is a work of art that incorporated modern with a time long gone all the while making it a low maintenance bathroom that never go out of style.

Reconfigure master bathroom and closet to add more storage and create better layout

A two-bed, two-bath condo located in the Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC was reimagined with the clean lined sensibilities and celebration of beautiful materials found in Mid-Century Modern designs. A soothing gray-green color palette sets the backdrop for cherry cabinetry and white oak floors. Specialty lighting, handmade tile, and a slate clad corner fireplace further elevate the space. A new Trex deck with cable railing system connects the home to the outdoors.

Deep and vibrant, this tropical leaf wallpaper turned a small powder room into a showstopper. The wood vanity is topped with a marble countertop + backsplash and adorned with a gold faucet. A recessed medicine cabinet is flanked by two sconces with painted shades to keep things moody.
