This artistic and design-forward family approached us at the beginning of the pandemic with a design prompt to blend their love of midcentury modern design with their Caribbean roots. With her parents originating from Trinidad & Tobago and his parents from Jamaica, they wanted their home to be an authentic representation of their heritage, with a midcentury modern twist. We found inspiration from a colorful Trinidad & Tobago tourism poster that they already owned and carried the tropical colors throughout the house — rich blues in the main bathroom, deep greens and oranges in the powder bathroom, mustard yellow in the dining room and guest bathroom, and sage green in the kitchen. This project was featured on Dwell in January 2022.

This beautiful ribbon fireplace remodel brings a new life to the family room. Originally this room was extremely cold and unused and now it is a space to relax and warm up with family and friends. Custom shelving surrounds the sides of the fireplace and frames the wall mounted TV. The fireplace itself has adjustable lights inside that can change to any color.

This client has been a client with EdenLA since 2010, and this is one of the projects we have done with them through the years. We are in planning phases now of a historical Spanish stunner in Hancock Park, but more on that later. This home reflected our awesome clients' affinity for the modern. A slight sprucing turned into a full renovation complete with additions of this mid century modern house that was more fitting for their growing family. Working with this client is always truly collaborative and we enjoy the end results immensely. The custom gallery wall in this house was super fun to create and we love the faith our clients place in us. __ Design by Eden LA Interiors Photo by Kim Pritchard Photography

This mid-century modern was a full restoration back to this home's former glory. The vertical grain fir ceilings were reclaimed, refinished, and reinstalled. The floors were a special epoxy blend to imitate terrazzo floors that were so popular during this period. Reclaimed light fixtures, hardware, and appliances put the finishing touches on this remodel. This homeowner of a Mid-Century house wanted to update the Fireplace finishes and add seating, while keeping the character of the house intact. We removed the faux slate floor tile and the traditional marble/wood mantels. I added recessed cans and a Designer light fixture that enhanced our modern aesthetic. Dimensional stone tile on the fireplace added texture to our subtle color scheme. Large drywall spaces provided background for any type of artwork or tv in this airy, open space. By cantilevering the stone slab we created extra seating while enhancing the horizontal nature of Mid-Centuries. A classic “Less Is More” design aesthetic.
