There’s nothing more satisfying and heart-warming to work with clients on multiple projects. I consider myself so fortunate to have met and worked with my Cremorne clients.
The first time, I completed a full renovation of their then Mosman federation home back in 2007.
This wonderful couple trusted me implicitly. As a designer, it’s one of the best feelings when clients are so willing to take on and run with your ideas. Getting to know your clients and forge lifetime friendships is an absolute privilege.
So, in 2019 Ken and Pip, now empty-nesters, contacted me to help them with their brand-new abode.
A considerable departure from their very traditional style that they’d left in Mosman. They wanted a new look. A complete departure, to a simple, sleek, and comfortable look, yet with an on-trend, but timeless feel.
I’m so lucky to have worked with these amazing people.

Through the use of form and texture, we gave these spaces added dimension and soul. What was a flat blank wall is now the focus for the Family Room and includes a fireplace, TV and storage.

The 1,750-square foot Manhattan Beach bungalow is home to two humans and three dogs. Originally built in 1929, the bungalow had undergone various renovations that convoluted its original Moorish style. We gutted the home and completely updated both the interior and exterior. We opened the floor plan, rebuilt the ceiling with reclaimed hand-hewn oak beams and created hand-troweled plaster walls that mimicked the construction and look of the original walls. We also rebuilt the living room fireplace by hand, brick-by-brick, and replaced the generic roof tiles with antique handmade clay tiles.
We returned much of this 3-bed, 2-bath home to a more authentic aesthetic, while adding modern touches of luxury, like radiant-heated floors, bi-fold doors that open from the kitchen/dining area to a large deck, and a custom steam shower, with Moroccan-inspired tile and an antique mirror. The end result is evocative luxury in a compact space.

A large wall of storage becomes a reading nook with views on to the garden. The storage wall has pocket doors that open and slide inside for open access to the children's toys in the open-plan living space.

Custom built-in entertainment center consisting of three base cabinets with soft-close doors, adjustable shelves, and custom-made ducting to re-route the HVAC air flow from a floor vent out through the toe kick panel; side and overhead book/display cases, extendable TV wall bracket, and in-wall wiring for electrical and HDMI connections. The last photo shows the space before the installation.

We had a big, bright open space to work with. We went with neutral colors, a statement leather couch and a wool rug from CB2 with colors that tie in the other colors in the room. The fireplace mantel is custom from Sawtooth Ridge on Etsy. More art from Lost Art Salon in San Francisco and accessories from the clients travels on the bookshelf from S=CB2.

A panelled fireplace is the centrepiece of this gorgeous room, with carefully selected furnishings, lighting and artwork completing the layered look.
