The house in La Grande, Oregon, is a magnificent Colonial and the existing cabinets detracted from the original style of the home. Now the cabinets totally match the architecture and grace of the home. These are white painted glazed. The fluted columns are pull outs for spices. The traditional subway tiles fit perfectly.

This cozy kitchen was completed in conjuction with J.A.R Remodeling. The all natural hickory doors are the centerpiece of this kitchen, revealing the beautiful natural graining that hickory is loved for. The off white quartz countertops are a great contrast for the cabinets and also provides a clean looking prep area for cooking. Definitely a unique look that allows for the natural wood to be the star of the show! Big Cherry in Ambler - Sometimes it's about the wood. Our client in Ambler, PA recently purchased this beautiful home, and the kitchen was not giving them the feeling of warmth they desired. We were able to accomodate them with a rich, medium toned stain on cherry cabinetry along with colonial gold granite from Let's Get Stoned. The copper colored mural over the cooktop really topped off this project by carrying the warm, earth tones throughout the kitchen.

Designer: Paul Dybdahl Photographer: Shanna Wolf Designer’s Note: One of the main project goals was to develop a kitchen space that complimented the homes quality while blending elements of the new kitchen space with the homes eclectic materials. Japanese Ash veneers were chosen for the main body of the kitchen for it's quite linear appeals. Quarter Sawn White Oak, in a natural finish, was chosen for the island to compliment the dark finished Quarter Sawn Oak floor that runs throughout this home. The west end of the island, under the Walnut top, is a metal finished wood. This was to speak to the metal wrapped fireplace on the west end of the space. A massive Walnut Log was sourced to create the 2.5" thick 72" long and 45" wide (at widest end) living edge top for an elevated seating area at the island. This was created from two pieces of solid Walnut, sliced and joined in a book-match configuration. The homeowner loves the new space!! A dramatic change from the original. The fridge and tall cabinets in the back used to be a closet. The old U-shaped kitchen is gone. The island features a striking piece of Shivakashi granite from India. The perimeter counters are Zodiaq quartz. The cabinets are all frameless, all plywood construction- no particle board or MDF- made with no added formaldehyde adhesives for improved indoor air quality. New stained prefinished white oak flooring was installed throughout. The cathedral ceiling in the back is an original feature and was not changed. These floating shelves allow for everyday items to be within reach and provide great display space. Bright colors complement the yellow backsplash and make the space feel warm and inviting. The cooktop over the oven allows for gas to be used for cooking and electrical to be used for baking, providing the best of both worlds without having to go with dual fuel ranges.
