Rooftop Garden Design Ideas
The London Gardener LtdA contemporary roof terrace designed to be a place to entertain and relax. Planted with predominately evergreen plants to give year-round structure, texture and privacy. Powder-coated steel planters were made in differing shapes, heights and colours to give more interest, and reflect the light. Some planters were placed on wheeled bases so that they could be moved around for large parties! The planting was also wind tolerant with a flowing colour pallet of lilac and white. We installed an irrigation system to water the plants and shots of colour came from cushions (outdoor fabric) and ethnic floor cushions. High quality outdoor lighting gave the space atmosphere with additional hanging lanterns used with large candles.
The Japanese GardenAn example of a Japanese garden has lot options. This space only measure 8ft x 4ft (3 square meters)
As you can see in the photos, we incorporated a tsukubai (Japanese source) and a karesansui (sand garden) This work was carried in only 3 days !!!
Hamilton Building Supply / HBS Home™The craftsmen at Hamilton Building Supply were delighted to build this gorgeous curved walkway for one of the rooftop gardens that can be found at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. We kept in mind the sick children and their families who would be enjoying the gardens while their little ones had to remain in the hospital. This project is a study to show how a walk such as this is constructed from start to finish.
Amber Freda Garden DesignYou’re looking beautiful, Brooklyn! Our design for this rooftop garden in Park Slope included composite decking, wood fencing, a black and tan pergola, globe lights, and black fiberglass planters. Up-lights in the plants also make for a dramatic nighttime effect. This project was somewhat unusual for us because the client actually built most of the hardscaping himself, based on our design. Hats off to such a hard-working client – you do great work! We came in after his work was finished to install all the plants, planters, soil, a small fountain, irrigation, and lighting. Staghorn NYCTribeca rooftop garden designed and installed by Staghorn NYC. Modern fiberglass planters are lightweight and frame multiple outdoor rooms for dining, lounging, playing and entertaining. Birch trees provide shade and dimension, while evergreens provide 4 seasons of color and interest.
Amber Freda Garden DesignThis TriBeCa roof garden design includes low-maintenance greenroof trays, a metal pergola, and lush plantings in black fiberglass planters. We also included a brown bamboo fence to help cover a less attractive existing fence. Plantings include white birch trees, blue junipers, variegated euonymus, ornamental grasses, Knockout roses, gold mop cyresses, boxwoods, dwarf pines, and purple and chartreuse heuchera. All of the planters are watered via an automated drip irrigation system. We also included up-lighting in the planters that is controlled on an automated timer.
