Se contacto para una renovación completa de la zona exterior de la vivienda. La idea planteada por el Estudio fue darle un aire más actual con un cierto aire nórdico, en el que la madera pasara a tener más protagonismo. Se planteo una renovación completa de todos los elementos internos de la zona (solados, revestimientos, mobiliario, plantaciones, iluminación, riego, decoración..) y a la vez que se saneaban, recuperaban y reforzaban todos los elementos estructurales del jardín. La jardinera de obra, se renovó por completo tanto en estructura como en plantaciones, basadas en suculentas de diversos tipos, que le otorgaran un aire minimalista. El mobiliario y la decoración se renovó por completo. Se establecieron dos zonas de reunión. Una más formal con sofás y mesas de apoyo para comidas o cenas para compartir y otra más tipo chill out, para descansar y leer con un aire más étnico.

The pond was carefully shaped, even inside, to give gentle slopes for wildlife to move about on, rather than sheer sides. When you make a pond using a butyl liner, the earth below is sculpted to form the internal shape and pond shelves for plants to sit on. It's laid, with underlay, over the cavity and slowly filled, moving the liner slightly to accomodate the bends and curves. The internal ledges were covered with a layer of coarse sand to facilitate micro-organism growth and good water health. Decorative pebbles and cobbles complete the upper surfaces and provide nooks and crannies for insects to thrive in. And food for the birds... A final and important touch is to add a bucketful of gunk from an existing healthy pond. That way the micro-fauna and flora will be there to keep the water clear. PS no fish when its a wildlife pond.

Designing a Garden within budget in Chalfont

There was an existing raised pine deck that desperately needed replacing. A small lawn and a small patio with a pergola. The client didn’t like anything about the space and commissioned us for a complete redesign. They wanted their new garden to be filled with colourful plants, raised herb beds and a new deck terrace. Since completion in 2020 we have revisited this project to check up on the garden and this is what it looks like now.

1st Finnish Ripavi Sauna delivered to the US as a pre-fab, self-leveling unit. Crane lowered over the garage and into this cozy, mosaic bluestone courtyard with granite curb to step the grades. Includes an electric heater, outdoor shower, and custom privacy fence/wall combination.

This garden was designed for a keen chef that wanted his herbs and vegetables fresh from the garden and used in his 'al fresco' cooking. Hampton Court Small Garden A Chef’s Kitchen was designed to inspire people to grow their own vegetables and herbs in their back garden and use them to prepare healthy and economical meals outdoors. A wood-burning stove was the focal point, surrounded by raised beds, trellising and a pergola, which were all planted with vegetables and herbs. Inspired by recent popular cookery programmes, the garden aimed to motivate people to cook al fresco taking advantage of fresh ingredients and creating healthy and delicious food. How to Create a Scandinavian Garden for Your Home

Depending on which style you’re going for, be sure to know what makes a Scandinavian garden and if it’s appropriate for your climate. You may want to consider adding a deck or other landscaping features, but the plants you choose will mostly dictate your style and what kind of ongoing maintenance is required. Don’t worry if your backyard isn’t very spacious - there are many plants that can thrive even in a small space and allow you to turn your space into a little paradise of your own, regardless of size.

Decide which plants to use

The greenery you choose is critical to your look. For example, if you’re trying to create a tropical garden palm trees and bamboo are your go-to options. Other popular options are golden cane palm trees and fern for ground cover. From there you can add some colour with bright flowers like frangipani, hibiscus or bromeliads. All these are actually quite hardy plants, so once established, your tropical garden is actually quite easy to maintain. Use this structure and apply it to your style. Research which plants you need to set your base for a Scandinavian garden and go from there.

Add some decor

If the plants don’t quite do it for you yet, or if you want to add some extra wow-factor, consider adding some extra features. Even if you can’t accommodate a swimming pool, hot tub or pond, you could look at smaller water features. Simple rocks can also have a great effect, while statues and gnomes will add some extra character. Don’t forget to add some furniture so you have a nice place to sit and enjoy your garden!
