Small Bespoke in Brooklyn Heights

Crown mouldings and new baseboards helped give dining area some architecture. A squared archway was added between the kitchen and dining area also helped to delineate the space and make it slightly removed from the kitchen. The living and dining rooms have matching curtains made from John Robshaw fabric. We painted the metal windows in black enameled oil paint, intentionally. It frames the view by day, and disappears at night. Something about it feels very New York City. The Saarinen table with walnut top and the Bertoia chairs help keep the room from feeling too traditional and fussy. The goal was to mix traditional and contemporary pieces to make the space feel balanced and timeless. The empire chair covered in antique velvet is used as an occasional chair in the living room and as a desk chair in the bedroom.
