In creating a seamless transition between the existing family home and the distant bushland, Walless Cabana deliberately curates the language of its surroundings through the Japanese concept of 'Shakkei' or borrowed scenery, ensuring its humble and respectful presence in place. Despite being a permanent structure, it is a transient space that adapts and changes dynamically with everchanging nature, personalities and lifestyle.

Liquid Evolution PoolsThis Spool was designed to fit into a small backyard without taking up the majority of the space. At 5,700 gallons it is the perfect size. We shut down a lane of traffic and craned in locally sourced boulders and field stone from the DC Ranch development. Details include a custom lounge bench finished with river rock, spa jets in the bench and in the shallow area and travertine water line tile. We used Pentair equipment, Intellitouch control system, paramount PV3 in-floor system, and Pebble Sheen interior finish.
Betz Pools LimitedThis suburban Toronto family had a small backyard which they outfitted for recreation and entertaining. The focal point is a symmetrical cloverleaf plunge pool which has a uniform depth of six feet. There are entry steps with underwater benches on each side with a spillover spa at one end and a Badu swimjet at the other. (16 x 16 custom rectangular)

Lorax Design GroupVillage of Loch Lloyd Marina Lot is a challenging site. The magnificent home consumed most of the lot and the remaining space was an interesting shape on a steep grade. There was a question of how to even include a pool in this small space. Fitting for a marina lot, our design captured the best water views and was even inspired by the nautical form of a sailboat. We proposed a yacht-shaped curvilinear design to capitalize on the small space. For one, we liked the nautical reference and two, the curvilinear pool fit elegantly against the retaining wall at the back the the property. The curvature on both sides of the pool match the already existing retaining wall and mimic the roof lines in the home. The dark glass tile, dark plaster and a perimeter overflow give Loch Lloyd Marina Lake a contemporary feel. And while a three hundred square feet pool and entry reef are compact, they integrate seamlessly with the pool deck and home.
