On a small cliff-front section overlooking the town basin and Hundertwasser Art Centre, HMOA has designed a new three-storey, three-bedroom house with a pool and plenty of space for entertaining.
Board-formed, in-situ concrete walls and stair core balance the extensive use of timber.
In keeping with the Northland climate, the top level is predominantly for indoor and outdoor living. There’s also an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area and a separate TV lounge. A lift provides access from the entry.
The second level houses the bedrooms and provides access to the pool terrace while the ground floor includes the garage, entry spaces and plenty of storage, including a wine cellar.
“All the teams across the board made the experience easy and straightforward. If there were ever a sticky question, we would just say to John: What would you do?” Whangārei House clients.

Rosalie House by KIRK is located in one of Brisbane’s most established inner city suburbs. This 5-bedroom family home sits on a hillside among the peaks and gullies that characterises the suburb of Paddington.
Rosalie House has a solid base that rises up as a 3-storey lightweight structure. The exterior is predominantly recycled Tallowwood weatherboard and pre-weathered zinc cladding – KIRK’s interpretation of the timber and tin tradition that is prevalent in the area.
Sun-shading and privacy is achieved with operable timber screens and external venetian blinds that sit in front of a bespoke timber window joinery.
The planning of the house is organised to address the views towards the city on the North-East and Mt Coot-tha on the South-West. The resulting building footprint provides private courtyards and landscaped terraces adjacent to the main living spaces.
The interior is an ensemble of Red Mahogany timber flooring and Jarrah timber panelling on backdrop of white plaster walls and white-set ceilings.
Environmental features of the house include solar hot water, 40,000L in-ground rainwater storage for landscape irrigation and low energy lighting.

Wyndham Beach House is the only Architecture house within Werribee South that has an attic floor. This attic floor brings the beautiful calming Wyndham Harbour view into the home.
From the outside, it features cantilever and C-shaped Architecture form. Internally, full height doors with full height windows throughout instantly amplify the space. On the other hand, P-50 shadow-line all over give a fine touch to every corner.
The highlight of this house laid on its floating stairs. Our Architect works intensively with the structural engineer in creating these stairs. Visually, each stair erected with only one side supported by tiny timber batten. They float from the ground floor right up to the attic floor, a total strand of 6.6m. Our Architect believes the good shall not be restrained inside the building. Hence, he reveals these stunning floating stairs from inside to outside through the continuous levels of full height windows.
Overall, the design of the beach house is well articulated with material selection and placement. Thus, enhancing the various elements within the entire building.

The centre piece of the works was a single storey ground floor extension that extended the kitchen and usable living space, whilst connecting the house with the garden thanks to the Grand Slider II aluminium sliding doors and a large fixed frame picture window.

The place is a formerquarry, which was the starting point in the development of the concept. The lower parts of the high plateau of the Ritten / Renon area are lined with vineyards, which grow at the steep hillsides; the different rows are supported by dry stone walls, which form elements of the cultural landscape. noa* (network of architecture) implements the stone wall in the same way as it is used in the vineyards -as a supporting element. In doing so the intermediation with the local tradition and the accordance with the omnipresent nature was always crucial to the conceptual approach.
