We love this space! The client wanted to open up two rooms into one by taking out the dividing wall. This really opened up the space and created a real social space for the whole family. The are lots f nice features within this design, the L shape island works perfectly in the space. The patterned floor and exposed brick work really give this design character. This modern classic kitchen features SieMatic RF cabinets, a unique herringbone backsplash design, and a beautiful stainless steel Bertazzoni range oven. The honed quartzite countertops with a line chisel edge complements this custom design. The simple furniture hood creates clean modern look without adding too much mass.

With the peninsula gone, the usable counter space was enhanced and seating around the dining table became more comfortable. The under cabinet lighting helps make gloomy NW days more cheerful.

A new fascia wall in front of the existing windows is built, housing the authentic 1920 portholes, salvaged from a ship. The windows preclude the unsightly outside street view while permitting light to stream through. It also evokes a sense of mystery as to suggest perhaps some unknown reality lying beyond. The gears faucet is unique and mirrors the industrial and streamline metaphors of the time. In addition, a brass rail is used as a curtain rod, with Greek key gimp used as ties to hold the curtains up above the top of the windows.
