This classic San Francisco backyard was transformed into an inviting and usable outdoor living space. New expansive double french doors open onto the custom concrete paver and Ipe wood patio. A generous L-shaped outdoor kitchen island frames the patio area and allows for ample storage and prep space.

Simple trellis-style cottage garden fence creates an effective screen between a small dining patio and an alley way in this tiny urban back yard. The gate serves as a pass-through for family members to and from garage. Credit: Tad Anderson. All rights exclusively reserved.

This yard incorporates classic design for a busy family of 4. A curved four-part roman walkway leads up to the classic house and front yard patio. The backyard was designed with open entertaining in mind, while minimizing maintenance for the busy homeowners with a young family. With distinct dining, lounging, and gardening areas, this yard features all the amenities needed for this growing, family. Custom built raised Rundle and Pisa Planters offer the clients multiple options for planting flowers, or vegetables. With custom kichler lighting throughout the yard, even a late evening glass of wine by the fire is not out of the question.

The bar allows guests to interact with the chef and makes serving a breeze. Pendants over the bar area ensure everything is well lit.

SCJ Studio Landscape Architecture - Montana
A forgotten backyard space was reimagined and transformed by SCJ Studio for outdoor living, dining, entertaining, and play. A terraced approach was needed to meet up with existing grades to the alley, new concrete stairs with integrated lighting, paving, built-in benches, a turf area, and planting were carefully thought through.
