The owners of this Queen Anne Victorian desired a more functional floorplan, improved views to outdoor space, and a period design that would respect the original look of the home. To achieve those goals, a mudroom and bathroom were removed from the rear wall, and the bath placed instead at the opposite end of the kitchen. This allowed a bank of windows to be situated above the sink and adjacent workspace, bringing plenty of natural light into the room. Appliances and cabinetry were rearranged to provide better workflow and easier access to adjoining rooms and a deck. New custom cabinetry better reflects the period character of the house.

Inset cabients in a custom cottage 'Russian Green' finish. Turned posts, arched trim, fluting, wire mesh, reclaimed wood bar counter -- lots of details! The homeowner chose the leathered quartzite counters with the natural rough edge -- a really beautiful material.

The homeowners wished to have an updated kitchen with a large window where they can see their established gardens. The gardens inspired the soft color palette where mint green cabinets top the oak wood floors. The client used white and black granite for the counters to achieve the look of marble and soapstone without the maintenance. The island seating helps when grandchildren come to visit for snack time.

This kitchen was designed by architect Kurt Melander for his personal home.
From the waxed wood floors to the antique table that we topped with marble, all the way to the commercial light fixture and the lack of upper cabinets, this project was unique - and a pleasure to be part of.

Step back in time to a bygone era with this stunning, Victorian-inspired kitchen. The Feather Vase Masterpiece is an exquisite example of the ornate beauty and intricate details that defined the Victorian era. Every inch of this space exudes charm and character, from the delicate lace curtains to the ornate brass handles on the cabinetry.

The soft green colour of the cabinets has a great effect on the whole space and creates a feel of casual playfulness. We chose patterned roman blind for the same reason and even added a cute table lamp to make the space feel more like a living space.
