The street location of this property had already undergone substantial demolition and rebuilds, and our clients wanted to re-establish a sense of the original history to the area. The existing Edwardian home needed to be demolished to create a new home that accommodated a growing family ranging from their pre-teens until late 20’s.

The translucent like quality of the marble island bench becomes apparent in the morning when sunlight shines across it.

Jack’s Point is Horizon Homes' new display home at the HomeQuest Village in Bella Vista in Sydney. Inspired by architectural designs seen on a trip to New Zealand, we wanted to create a contemporary home that would sit comfortably in the streetscapes of the established neighbourhoods we regularly build in. The gable roofline is bold and dramatic, but pairs well if built next to a traditional Australian home. Throughout the house, the design plays with contemporary and traditional finishes, creating a timeless family home that functions well for the modern family. On the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious dining, family lounge and kitchen (with butler’s pantry) leading onto a large, undercover alfresco and pool entertainment area. A real feature of the home is the magnificent staircase and screen, which defines a formal lounge area. There’s also a wine room, guest bedroom and, of course, a bathroom, laundry and mudroom. The display home has a further four family bedrooms upstairs – the primary has a luxurious walk-in robe, en suite bathroom and a private balcony. There’s also a private upper lounge – a perfect place to relax with a book. Like all of our custom designs, the display home was designed to maximise quality light, airflow and space for the block it was built on. Our client sought a home imbued with a spirit of “joyousness” where elegant restraint was contrasted with a splash of theatricality. A stunning Tim Maguire artwork, Robert Kuo artifacts and a 1760 French commode provide a strong focal point in the Master Suite of our Point Piper Villa. Even in a space of this scale it’s still all about the details!

First impression count as you enter this custom-built Horizon Homes property at Kellyville. The home opens into a stylish entryway, with soaring double height ceilings. It’s often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home. And that’s literally true with this home. With the kitchen in the centre of the ground floor, this home provides ample formal and informal living spaces on the ground floor. At the rear of the house, a rumpus room, living room and dining room overlooking a large alfresco kitchen and dining area make this house the perfect entertainer. It’s functional, too, with a butler’s pantry, and laundry (with outdoor access) leading off the kitchen. There’s also a mudroom – with bespoke joinery – next to the garage. Upstairs is a mezzanine office area and four bedrooms, including a luxurious main suite with dressing room, ensuite and private balcony. Outdoor areas were important to the owners of this knockdown rebuild. While the house is large at almost 454m2, it fills only half the block. That means there’s a generous backyard. A central courtyard provides further outdoor space. Of course, this courtyard – as well as being a gorgeous focal point – has the added advantage of bringing light into the centre of the house.
