How to Convert a 3D Floor Plan to Takeoffs

Once you create your 3D floor plan, you can turn your vision into a reality by uploading your design into the Takeoffs section of your project. When you convert your 3D floor plan to a takeoff, you can start creating measurements to order flooring, plasterboard, windows, doors and more.
The process is simple – you will need to download the floor plan as a PDF, then upload it to the Takeoffs section of your project.
To start: Open up the relevant floor plan. You can view all floor plans by clicking the Search icon in your left navigation, then selecting from the list. You can also click the Projects icon, select the relevant project, then click 3D Floor Plans from the left menu.

Be sure to select Floor Plan (2D) mode at the top of your plan for accurate takeoff measurements – you can select Black & White or Colour based on your preference.
At the top of your floor plan, select the Print/PDF button. From the dropdown, click Save PDF to Files.

Type in the PDF name, then click Save. Your PDF file will now be saved under Files & Photos for that specific project.

To create a takeoff using this file, select the relevant project, then select Takeoffs from the left menu. Click the Create a Takeoff button at the top or the middle of your screen.

You will have the option to upload a new file, upload from Google Drive, or select an existing file from your Houzz Pro project. Click the check box next to the relevant file you created, then select Create & Continue.

Your 3D floor plan will now load directly into takeoffs. Please note: As you start your takeoff, it is important to review and set your page scale under Page Settings – this ensures that your measurements are accurate and your takeoff is successful.
Once your page scale is set, you can start creating measurements, counting items, adding annotations and more. To learn more about everything you can accomplish in takeoffs, read How to Use Takeoffs on Houzz Pro.
