Maier Architects

We approached Maier Architects with the need to catch up on deferred exterior work (roof, siding, front porch, deck, and patio) and with the germ of an idea about how the facade of our house could be modernized. Design aesthetics were very important to us in the facade changes, as was treating the work as one large coordinated project rather than as a series of individual renovations. We were also looking to avoid gold plating, in favor of economical and practical choices. From the beginning, Beth Maier, the principal architect, was tuned in to what we were trying to do. In particular, she was able to take little more than a sketch of what the house could look like and turn it into something actually build-able and that will look really good once it is built (and I know from the internet that redesigns like ours are botched more often than they are done well). Over the course of four or five months, we worked with Beth on defining our needs and wants, creating a preliminary design, getting ballpark estimates to be sure the design ended up within budget, and then finally creating the construction drawings themselves. From the initial 3d modeling to the final drawings, it was clear what she was proposing. The process was interactive, Beth being responsive to our emailed questions and concerns, and was not shy about telling me certain of my suggestions would not work, which I appreciated. Some other observations: - The process Maier followed was well-suited to the task, in developing more and more detail over time. - Beth was game for crawling around in spider web filled spaces (!) to understand the current condition of the house. - Beth and her husband Fred were extremely personable and a pleasure to work with. - Monthly billing was unobtrusive and tracked well to the original proposal. Caveats: As of this writing, the construction hasn’t yet begun, so we cannot comment on Maier’s interaction with the contractor during the work. We also did not survey the field for typical pricing, and can only say that Maier’s rates seemed reasonable to us.

My wife and I we’re looking for an architect for 3 months to rebuild and change our foot print after we had a total loss with a fire. On our first initial meeting with Beth and Fred at our site after the fire we knew they were motivated for the project. From architectural building designs to samples of materials Beth and Fred were a step ahead of us. They were professional, caring, and efficient. Beth was on the ball with talking to the borough, and builder and submitted everything they needed to move forward. Beth had many suggestions for us and with all of her experience and knowledge it made the process so smooth. I couldn’t say anything other than Maier Architects are the best in the business!

Beth Maier is a pleasure to work with. She designed a custom residence project for us which presented several challenges in terms of land development and code compliance. Very thorough, efficient, and most important, sensitive to making our concept design become a buildable reality. We would recommend her to anyone who desires to work with an experienced and professional architect.

Beth and Fred came out to our house and looked over our plans and listened to what we wanted. She took into consideration our house's unique design and came up with a plan for our in-law suite that exceeded our expectations. She is very thorough and knew about all the different building codes for our township. The plans were completed quickly and professionally. Beth was very professional and thorough and knew exactly what I wanted by just showing her a photo. She came to my house and checked things out structurally and then she did amazing construction drawing for us and we could not be happier and cannot wait to get started. She also helped and discussed the plans and gave us ideas so that we would get the farm house look we are looking for and went above and beyond to help us select siding and windows.
