About Us

Becker Architects is a full-service, award winning architectural firm, established in New York City in 1982. Becker Architects began as an interiors firm, designing tenant buildouts, medical offices and residential renovations of coops and townhouses, primarily in Manhattan. Today, we handle a variety of commercial and residential projects, from new construction to rehabilitation and additions. The firm’s expertise is in three specific areas: Residential, Automobile Dealerships and General Commercial. In the Residential category, we have designed rehabs, additions and new construction for several hundred clients, primarily in the New York and Chicago metropolitan areas. Our residential work has received national and local attention in awards, programs and publications such as Chicago Architect (AIA), The Chicago Tribune, Builder, Remodeling, Chicago Home, Better Homes and Gardens, House Beautiful and Traditional Home. We have been featured in a number of HGTV productions, including the 13-week reality series, Dream House.

We just finished working with Becker Architects Limited to remodel our kitchen as well as turn two little-used back staircases into a mudroom, pantry and upstairs laundry. Richard Becker, his wife Nancy, and their team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They’re ideas, suggestions, drawings, and site visits were all excellent. They helped us through the bidding process to pick a contractor, and they were available to help us throughout the project whenever we needed to consult them. We give them the highest recommendation, and would use them for our next project without question

Becker Associates designed an addition to my houses which included a mudroom, garage and workout room. The style was entirely me yet was in keeping with the style of the house. Ten years later we are still enjoying every aspect of new improved home.

Richard and him team did a great job redesigning our 60’s house into a modern beautiful home. The redesign included gut remodel and new layout of the entire house and completely re-imagined exterior. We can not wait to complete our renovation!

This is the second time I have used Becker architects. The first project was small: a simple update to a very outdated fireplace in our previous home. We moved into a multilevel condo that was in a landmark building. Nancy was our primary architect on this project but Richard helped with design work as well. They are very professional and also so nice to work with. We totally gutted our kitchen and removed walls in our first floor making it an open space for entertaining. The project went seamlessly and they provided three design options and customized the project for our needs. They also assisted in expanding our master bath. We love the changes and have now used our home for entertaining large groups and it is so warm and inviting. We have gotten so many compliments on our home thanks to Nancy and Richard. I would highly recommend them.

We live in NYC but have worked with Becker Architects now two times! Our first experience about 20 years ago was so exceptional that we decided to work with them again! This experience has been equally satisfying. Richard is talented, thoughtful, budget minded and resourceful. He has a special gift for ceilings! Gina is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is extremely competent and thorough—and her can-do attitude and rapid turnaround times make working with her a sheer joy!

Loved working with Becker Architects. Both Nancy and Richard have unique skill sets that are so complementary to each other. They're so easy going and extremely knowledgeable about all facets of design, electric, plumbing, etc. We've worked on several projects with them - ranging from a total house remodel/addition to a new bathroom - all have turned out great.

We hired Becker Architects to design an extensive renovation of our newly purchased 1902 house. From the beginning to the final completion of the project, Richard, Nancy and Gina were a pleasure to work with and professional. They balanced creativity and practicality, listened carefully to our thoughts and needs, worked very well with our contractor, and supported us throughout the process. We have complete confidence in their judgment andl in their integrity. We recommend them with enthusiasm.

Commented: Shower ceilingI believe it received a couple of coats of enamel paint so that it wouldn't stain with condensation. Normally we'd put tile on the ceiling but that wouldn't have looked so good in this situation.

Commented: What is the distance between the bath and the wall?I believe it was about 3" each end between the tub and the glass panels. That's enough room to clean. We didn't want the tub too close because it would look cramped.
