We loved the house that Blane Steinman and his people created for us! In the planning phase, Blane and Joe Gittle, took the notion we had of building a Charleston-style townhouse on our very small seashore lot, and ran with it. Despite our limited square footage, the house feels open and airy with 10-foot high coffered ceilings in the great room area. There's an expansive feel yet every square foot has maximized use. Details like window seats and entryway columns provide depth and interest. Even the second-floor landing has an expansive feel. We wanted six ensuite bedrooms yet remarkably, it doesn't feel at all crowded; the bedrooms do not feel small. One of the best parts of the house is the sunset view from the large windows in our dining area. Blane and Joe were great to work with. They listened carefully to what we wanted and exceeded how we imagined it would turn out. At one point, we had an unrealistic idea which they handled with tact and provided samples of how our idea would look. Once construction began, a change had to be made to the entry which they accommodated with a great idea of building columns for a transition. We highly recommend this architect.

We worked with Blane Steinman and his team to design our new bay front home in Avalon, NJ. The biggest compliment we can give to Blane and his team is that they listen. They wanted to understand our style, how we intended to use our home, what our unique requirements might be, what our 'must have's' were, and much more. They took the time to get to know us. They spent time walking our lot to note everything from where the sun rises and sets, to the type of water views we had and how to best take advantage of that in the home they designed for us. They offered suggestions on builders and interior designers based on the style home we were building, which was very much appreciated. The entire process, from initial design ideas to the first set of rough plans, to the eventual full set of architectural documents was smooth and spot on. We couldn't be happier with how our home turned out. We would absolutely use Blane again on a future project. We can't recommend him and his team highly enough.

Blane and his team have great vision and attention to detail .... from concept to completion they look at the big picture, listen to the clients desires and needs, and design to that end. They are not a, "one size fits all" firm; they work with you to make sure that what you visualize ends up on paper and is what you were dreaming about all along.

So talented!! So responsive!! So easy to work with!! He understood our needs and wants and beautifully turned them into the house of our dreams. We are thrilled with our experience with Blane.

Very good architectural firm with the right balance of offering ideas and listening to the client. They are always available for consultation and produce quality plans for the general contractor. If timing is important, be sure to build your timing needs into the contract. Also the transition from floor plan drafts to construction documents can happen fast, so be sure you are clear on your direction for items like siding design, floor selection (carpet, wood, tile) and accent trim. We did not pay enough attention to those details under the assumption they get decided upon with the builder and have no impact on engineering or design. We noticed too late that hardwood floors were in the plans where we actually wanted tile all along and then we had to pay for plan and engineering modifications due to the weight added by tile flooring. It was just a bit odd that we were not asked about such selections by the architect as the plans were developing and we didn't pay enough attention to those details prior to the construction plans going final. We do highly recommend this firm as compared to very high priced pushy architects and took away some lessons learned from our project.

We worked with Blane and his team to build our dream house at the beach in Avalon. Blane was extremely professional, listened to our extensive "wish list", and found creative ways to encompass all of our requests while still capturing the Ocean view, our number one goal. He solved countless problems along the way, worked with our budget and time frames, worked extremely well with our Builder and Designer, and produced a home we are happy with and proud of. We engaged Blane Steinman Architects to design our home in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. It was a unique ocean front property and Blane and his Associates did a fantastic job, of incorporating all the features we desired, while creating a traditional New England style home with wonderful views and warm intimate family spaces. It is a cozy home that still let's us entertain various size groups of friends easily. Their attention to detail and creative design solutions made the project a unqualified success. We built the home in 2017 and spent in the $2.5 MM range.
