We worked with Blythe Design Studio to do a complete gut renovation of our 2 Bedroom Apt in the East Village. The building was built in 1967 and the apartments are no frills to put it kindly. Blythe redesigned the space with attention to maximizing the interior light, storage space, and giving the space a modern, luxurious feel. Details like making the door frames higher, partial drop ceiling for recessed lighting that gives the illusion of a higher ceiling, a sliding door separating the bedrooms from the living room, enlarging the bathroom, an open kitchen design, shelving, modern radiator and AC covers, the decision on which direction to lay the flooring, and hidden storage cabinets throughout the apartment maximize the space and minimize the clutter. Blythe Studios care about client satisfaction and will see the project through to the end, oversee the contractor's work and remain interested and helpful even five years later. Highly recommend the team!

Blythe Design Studio was an incredible team to work with. They helped us with a renovation that centered around adding a bathroom to our existing 2-bedroom duplex, taking it from 1.5 to 2.5 baths. This was no easy feat considering we were not adding any square footage, but Bernard, Marcus, and Andrea made it work so seamlessly that it is nearly impossible to tell that our apartment was ever any different. Throughout the project, the team was hands-on and expertly organized, communicative, creative, and thoughtful. They consistently provided suggestions and guidance when needed while also listening to our ideas and wishes. They also had a great relationship with our contractor, architect, and building management + engineers, making the process go very smoothly. We are overjoyed with how everything turned out and grateful to the Blythe Design Studio team for helping us take our apartment to the next level. Highly recommend!

We did a full renovation of our apartment in a building built in 1960. Bernhard’s design gave us an apartment that is beautiful and in which we can live comfortably. He found four contractors, all of whom he had worked with previously, and then helped us make sense of their bids and select the one that was both less expensive and highly skilled. The final result was within 5% of the original budget, finished on schedule, and what we hoped for. Working in New York City we had to navigate the City building department’s permit process as well as our building’s intrusive and nit-picking approval process. Bernhard and his team guided us through all that smoothly, sparing us from unneeded expenses and especially from the aggravation that would have come if we had tried to deal with it ourselves (or if we had depended on someone who was less experienced and skilled than Bernhard). We also want to say that Bernhard and his team are charming, kind people. It was a joy to work with them.

Blythe Design was an awesome company to work with. Bernhard listened exhaustively to what we needed to make our classic-7 Brooklyn home more functional for our family. For example, he figured out how to make the storage and layout for our 2-person office/yoga studio/guest room/occasional party space work. Not easy! He also found creative solutions for maximizing beauty and storage in a small kitchen and 1.5 baths. He went shopping with us for tiles, navigated the kitchen cabinet order for us, and figured out how to creatively and beautifully store a large book collection. He liased with the contractor and visited the construction every week at least, keeping things on schedule and making sure the work was high quality. Everything came in on budget and billing was clear and easy. I can't recommend him and his company highly enough.

Bernhard is amazing! I waited 20 years to renovate because I couldn't find a designer I wanted to work with. He was worth the wait. He knew what I wanted before I did. He and his team always kept me apprised of deliveries, etc., and returned my emails or texts. Bernhard was great at getting me to make decisions, and there were lots of times I was very unsure. His expert advice, explaining the pros and cons, and patience were critical. The result is a beautiful kitchen that's user-friendly and functional. As a friend said, "it looks like a million-dollar kitchen!"

Working with Bernhard and the team was enjoyable. Their professionalism, creativity and flexibility helped guide us through a pretty lengthy process to gut renovate a 1 bedroom apt and separate kitchen. They even stuck with me after the job had finished to ensure I successfully tied off some loose ends I was taking care of myself. One real bonus was the introduction to a contractor they have used frequently - P Quality Renovations - who were a pleasure to work with. We are really pleased with the end result.

We have had the pleasure of working with Blythe Design Studio for the GUT renovation of our 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment in NYC. Bernhard and the team designed a plan that allowed for flexibility while maximizing what we had (high floor with natural light) and minimizing the inconveniences associated with post war NYC apartments (hallways).

Commented: Where are those lights from?I'm guessing you mean the pendant lights over the island. Those are the 'Mini Crescent Pendant' by Lee Broom, a British company but they are sold here in the States now also.

Commented: How were those floating stairs constructed?The stairs are wood treads attached to cantilevered steel bars welded to steel beams within the wall. These stairs can hold a lot of weight.
