About Us

Shenton Architects is a design focused New York based architectural practice with extensive experience in residential, commercial and institutional projects of varied scales. Our current workload includes high-end private residential and commercial projects, in New York City and elsewhere in the United States. The common theme that ties our projects together is the search for unique modern solutions, tailored to each client’s specific requirements and interests. Throughout the design process of every project, we are focused on refining details to ensure that concepts can be translated efficiently into reality through construction. We therefore seek practical design solutions that will endure the test of time in years to come. Carl Shenton has over 22 years of architectural experience, including 17 years in New York. He is involved in all aspects of the practice, with a focus on design and project management.

We worked with Shenton Architects on a full apartment gut renovation. Shenton Architects was with us from initial architectural drawings and through construction management until the work was complete. We chose Shenton Architects because we admire their clean, modern and minimal style and approach to design. They also have great connections to high quality and thoughtful contractors so we were very happy with the contractor that they recommended. Shenton Architects regularly oversaw the work in phases with the contractor for a beautiful end product. I definitely recommend Shenton Architects.

I highly recommend Carl Shenton. Extremely professional, responsive, and extremely talented. He helped me with finding contractors. Unlike many architects in NYC he's open to working with contractors you suggest. I ended up going with someone he had worked with in the past and was very happy. Completely transparent about costs and creative on ways to get cost down while making everything look very nice. I needed to make an extra master suite out of living room and he came out with the best and most cost effective solution out of all architects. He also has great taste and even helped me with some decoration ideas. I hope to use him again some day.

Stephen Jackel

Carl Shenton helped me turn a dark, cave-like small room into a bright, open and spacious kitchen, dramatically improving my loft apartment. Carl was really creative, moving the refrigerator to a new space I never would've come up with on my own, and figuring a way for more cabinets than I would have believed possible. (I actually have a couple of EMPTY cabinets!) Additional counter space and more cabinets - pretty impressive. Carl is also one of the most meticulous people I've ever encountered, which is exactly what one wants in an architect, and was great in dealing with the contractor. I highly recommend him.

Carl and his team were fantastic to work with from start to finish for the renovation / combination of our duplex apartment. Design-wise, they clearly have great creative talent, and they demonstrated their flexibility in seamlessly incorporating ideas/input from me and my wife into an overall aesthetic that really works. On top of their exceptional design capabilities, we were also very impressed by their overall professionalism and ability to manage our needs & expectations. By responding quickly to our questions and providing recommendations to help us determine the best areas to spend (and save), Carl and his team really expertly managed our project and made us feel at ease despite it being a fairly extensive renovation with a tight timeline. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with our new home, and working with Carl was certainly the best decision we made to get us here (on time and in budget!)
