Mike built our Rock Creek Road residence. We worked most closely with Kevin on a day to day basis, Mike's Superintendent. Kevin was a true pleasure all around, from his mild manor to high level of care and skill in executing our architectural details. The house is a true beauty and work of art and it could not have been completed without Mike and team. Thank you for all your hard work and fine level of craft and workmanship.

My wife and I completely gutted and remodeled a 1970s condominium. With Mike Cowan's tremendous general contractor skills along with our designer and architect, we undertook a major remodeling effort. We interviewed several people to oversee our project, but we picked Mike because of his extensive background in medium to large scale projects. He listened well and responded to our needs and recommendations. He brought along a cohort group of talented tradesmen who did fantastic work. Mike set our expectations properly along the way and was a very effective communicator. We were thrilled with the final result and would be happy to recommend Cowan Construction.

My first experience with Mike was a 25,000 sq. ft. house. He was so professional, organized, knowledgeable and recommended the best sub contractors to work on this project. The clients were thrilled with his ability to give them what they wanted within the deadline and meeting the budget for the home. Since then Mike and I have worked on many projects together and it is the same with all our projects. Mike's calm demeanor, great working relationships with subs and designers alike make his projects go together smoothly and efficiently. I hired Cowan Construction in 2011 to do a major remodel of my house. The total job took approximately seven months, and I moved out during that time. The whole job was completed as scheduled, and the quality of the work was superb! Mike is wonderful - so easy to work with as he truly listens to your desires and is totally accommodating. His integrity, honesty and dependability are outstanding. I'd heard such horror stories from so many people regarding remodel jobs and was a bit nervous about how the process, but it couldn't have worked out better, much to my relief. Building a fine home is never done in seclusion, it requires a good team that starts with the owner, the builder, and the architect. As a project architect I had the pleasure of working with Cowan Construction on a large custom designed home a number of years ago. Mike Cowan is an exceptional builder who completed the project with care and attention to detail. He is easy to work with and knows when to ask questions and when to provide alternative solutions. Mike and his team are very professional. We have worked recycling his construction debris for close to 10 years. Mike made his bones the hard way. Out in the field getting his boots dirty. He understands at a very deep level what is going to happen on the site and is 2 steps ahead of it. Not reacting but proactively solving problems before they arise. this doesn't mean stuff is never going to happen on the sites. Because you can never plan for everything I think Mike's best asset is his demeanor with the trades. By working together in a give and take environment Mike delivers a superior product. Trades want to do their best work for Mike and his team. Do not underestimate this. We work with hundreds of contractors and this is exceedingly rare. . Mike can be a little off putting with clients because he works hard to deliver a "true" price. No hidden markups. No fancy accounting where the true number is +++. No change order shenanigans. Just a good price with the information on hand. Some clients want to hold their budget close to the vest. This just wastes everyone's time. Mike truly works together with his clients to deliver an excellent home at a fair price Mike and his team are very ethical and above board in all their dealings.
