Alex and the team at Cypress Woodworks were amazing to work with from start to finish. From the very beginning of our kitchen and mud room renovation, the level of professionalism and expertise was top notch. Attention to detail and meticulous execution is how Alex and his team exemplified their true dedication to their workmanship and craft and the end result was a gorgeous kitchen and mud room that flowed effortlessly into the rest of our original 1930’s home. Alex communicated consistently throughout the entire process letting us know daily schedules, punch list projects and final goals. Moreover, Alex was always checking in to see that in each and every step, we were happy with the workmanship. We also really appreciated, having to live in the space during the construction, the clean up process after a days work and their constant sensitivity to minimize their impact in our home. We had a “tricky” project with undulating Floors, structural needs in our foundation, and a galley kitchen with a small footprint in which we needed to maximize form and function so to optimize every last square inch. The team had the vision and the expertise to get the job done and get it done right! Alex takes his personal long standing family tradition of fine woodworking very seriously and with a real passion to his craft as does the amazing team surrounding him. They all were wonderful to work with and we could not be happier with our new and beautiful space! Cypress Woodworks with out a doubt, 100% deserves all five stars they have earned in the past and certainly achieved that with our project!

I hired Alex McKenzie to do a 4 month, $200k total reno of my 2 BR condo and I could not be happier! What an amazing job. We hired Alex and Cypress Woodworks for a full kitchen renovation project in our home. Alex handled the general contracting duties for the project, as well overall design and all of the custom carpentry. We could not be happier with the end product, as well as the way Alex handled the entire project. We now have our dream kitchen! The attention to detail, craftsmanship, and sense of perfection that Alex brings is unmatched. He was attentive to our needs and questions, always explained everything thoroughly, and brought a personal touch to every step. Alex is one of the only builders in the area who specializes in using unique and reclaimed materials in his projects, and is well versed at integrating them into the overall kitchen design. He is intimately familiar with how to work with these materials, and creates true works of art in the pieces he builds. He is also versatile and was able to show us several different looks that could be achieved with the same materials, whether that was modern, or more rustic. Any issues that came up during the project were quickly addressed until we were 100% satisfied. During the course of the project, my wife was in the third trimester of her pregnancy and Alex and his crew took extra special care in minimizing the impact to our home and lives. The entire Cypress Woodworks crew are true professionals that not only bring extensive experience and skill, but a personal and friendly touch which you just don't get with other contractors...and something that was very important to us, given the amount of time they are in your home throughout a project like this. Alex worked hard to find areas of savings in the budget, and provide the best quality product in the most efficient way. Alex also has a network of trade specialists who can handle any part of the project...and he holds them to the same level of quality as he does with his own work. Overall...we couldn't have hoped for a smoother process throughout the project and a better outcome. But what really sets Cypress Woodworks apart from the rest, is the unbelievable creativity and craftsmanship that you just don't typically see. All of the components that Alex built for us...cabinets, shelves, island top, custom hutch, coat hooks, trim, paper towel holder, furniture, and more are all truly works of art that will last us a lifetime. We hope to get to hire Cypress Woodworks for another project down the road. We would recommend them to anyone...and do!

Alex McKenzie is a true craftsman with a vision for a project, a passion for woodworking, and refined skills. He renovated our kitchen and took the time to make sure our pots and pans fit into our custom cabinets before making them. He repurposed materials that we had to create our front entry and island top. It never felt like just another job for him; he cared about the outcome. He saw an opportunity for more drawers not in our design plan, ran it by us, and built extra drawers that we use every day. He was a great communicator, problem solver, and he stuck to his timeline. My family has known Alex for many years. So it was natural for us to call on him when our beach staircase needed to be replaced. Alex is truly a fantastic person to work with. He listened to our needs and exceeded our expectations. He used select pressure-treated lumber on our stairs and railing. To improve visibility, we suggested the use of stainless-steel wire instead of wood. Alex incorporated this feature seamlessly into the stairs. To add a finishing touch to the top of the four-by-four posts that support the railing, Alex suggested we use post-caps. He gave us many options such as wood or glass. We chose glass for its durability and pleasant appearance. Our new stairs are one of the best features of our estate and the craftsmanship really shows each time we walk up and down them. Alex is truly a professional craftsman who takes immense pride in his work. We give him the highest possible review, and would not hesitate for a minute recommending him to friends or family.
