Dancing Grains Woodworks

We got started with Austin doing a lot of fit and finish work on our 100+ year old house. Austin stands out is his design work. My wife and Austin will talk about some of the interesting little spaces in this old house and then a few week later there is a piece that he has built that seems like it has always been there. One of my personal favorite projects is a pergola that Austin designed for us. We have a South facing patio, and he suggested a pergola with the slates set at 40 degrees. We live at 40 degrees latitude, so summer midday is full shade and winter is full sun with our new pergola. Brilliant! We are happy to call Austin our guy. Dave and Cheryl

Austin did four custom pieces for us over several years and they are the highlight of our house. He's delightful to work with, very creative, and his work is wonderful.

We have used Austin Aaron and Dancing Grains Woodworks for three projects: a large "live edge" dining table in locally sourced American Black Walnut, a coffee table designed to showcase the grain pattern in a special slab of Chestnut and a built in Walnut topped desk for our Colorado Condo. Austin also suggested and installed ebony kick plate trim for our existing kitchen cabinetry to make the base cabinets "float" above the Brazilian Cherry floors. In each case, he was a pleasure to work with and the results far exceeded our expectations. Our dining table, coffee table and desk are all pictured in the slide show portion of his website. The distinguishing design feature of the "Flagship" dining table is the curved trundle base, a subtle innovation that makes the table seem sculptural versus the offerings of others that often seem too "chunky". Notice on the coffee table (the one pictured in front of a green couch) how he continued the top grain around the sides and added the ebony "tail piece" to the top joinery---we call this table our "good luck owl" for obvious reasons. Austin's blend of functionality with the beauty of natural material is what brings pleasure to your eye and aesthetic sensibility. Multiple generations of our family have collected hand made furniture since the 1920's and passed it along from household to household. Austin's respect for special examples of timber is highly reminiscent of George Nakashima, and his ability to bring his drawings to fruition in the final product certainly follows in the footsteps of Sam Maloof. Austin Aaron is a young man with a developed skill set, and he has a fabulous career ahead of him.

I interviewed many high end cabinet makers both locally and nationwide before choosing to work with Dancing Grains Woodworks. They were the only ones that could execute the quality and form of what we wanted. From the design process and through the install phase they were professional and there were no surprises. This is rare occurance when undertaking a large scale remodeling project. The custom cabinets, floating shelves, pantry and doors were a beautiful functional work of art. Our friends and guests alike are stunned by the work and we are so pleased with the results of our dream kitchen. In addition we hired them to make a custom vanity and metal stair railings and they also turned out as we had hoped. We will hire this company in the future for custom furniture pieces and other architectural work. The owner's sense of craftsmanship, aesthetics and perfectionism were exactly what I had hoped to find for these projects, he did not disappoint!

Austin and his team were great to work with. They were professional and easy to communicate with but most importantly, incredibly artistic. They created a custom built-in wood seating piece with hidden storage and movable ottomans. They took our design from a sketch to reality by not only creating it, but installing it for us in the client's home. They have also built a dining table crafted from wood and steel for a mountain modern look. We look forward to working with Dancing Grains again in the near future.

Aaron at Dancing Grains hand crafted a 9' long harvest dining table, king bed for master with two bedside tables of wood, rocks and iron, all of stacked reclaimed black walnut. He also made a solid black walnut floating my double vanity for the master bath. Everything is high end custom, beautiful craftsmanship and something you will not find at any furniture store at any price. I recommend them highly.
