Purpose I am deeply committed to design that leaves a positive legacy for future generations. It is a means to participate, contribute and improve the well-being of clients, our culture and the environment. Designing buildings with a responsiveness, that achieves an equilibrium with nature. Good design supports and informs a rich human experience and yet can still encourage environmental health and abundance. Quality of Light. The way that natural light is used in each project is of primary importance to me. In particular, the way in which light can generate form and evoke human emotion. I have been exploring an architecture where the emphasis is on space, inhabitation and making connections that can give meaning to a place and lift the spirit. I am guided by an ideal based on sustainability, low impact design and use of materials, with responsibility for a legacy relationship with nature. Striving for refined and clever structural solutions with simplified construction detailing, produces a reduction in the amount of material in a building and a consequent reduction in the impacts of wastage, transport and production. David’s work has earned him recognition both nationally and internationally. David Loughlin is a graduate of the Plymouth School of Architecture and the Architectural Association, London with an Honours Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture. He has worked on projects in the UK, Korea, New Zealand and is a registered Architect in both the UK and New Zealand. The practice was established to offer a level of service and experience that can only come from a boutique firm. We care deeply about what we do and relish the involvement in the design and execution of each project. I consider my specialism to be high quality design and architecture and enjoy having a broad range of projects in the office.
