We are working with Derrington Building Studio on a project in Highland Hills alongside David Wilkes (Builder), Meredith Ellis (Interior Designer) and Carl Hample (Hample Pools), and it's been such a pleasure to be working with such a great team. Tim and Natalia are extremely professional and committed to our project and our clients in every way. The site conditions have been tricky and they have really hung in there to keep the project moving forward, while quickly addressing all the issues at hand. They've led the team with positive energy and are fun to collaborate with because they always have great ideas and solutions. We've really loved working with them and hope to team up on more projects in the future!

Tim offered his design skill and construction knowledge toward the creation of an arch to be used in my marriage ceremony. Although my wife-to-be and he were already close friends and associates at the time, my relationship with him was only a few conversations deep into acquaintance. Still, this basis afforded us the opportunity to meet with Tim in a simultaneously casual yet professionally focused manner to discuss our vision for the project. Over a lovely dinner, my partner and I began to enumerate the elements of our dream arch, with many properties of it still very much in the realm of abstraction. We expressed our appreciation for the austere, natural figure of the Lost Pines Chapel in Bastrop - how it's framed within its environment in a way that accentuates the woods without distracting from them. However, one crucial detail for my fiancee was that we must be able to build the arch ourselves, together with members of our wedding party, as a metaphorical "barn-raising" event to bring us closer together during the wedding process. Immediately, Tim put pen to sketchbook, and produced some initial ideas and concepts from our suggestions. We were astonished and excited to know that our imaginations were being realized, and left feeling deep confidence in Tim's direction. From that point, I began to gather materials and arrange logistical details for the arch assembly over a few additional meetings with Tim. We found that our rapport deepened as we worked together toward a goal that we were eager to attempt. I took his aesthetic notions to heart and allowed them to guide my decisions in wood selection, as we finally chose California Redwood. From his initial pitch, I witnessed his ideas mature as he integrated new disciplines into the operation; for instance, he employed notions from Japanese wood joinery, elaborating to me that in this practice, the pieces of the arch meld into one, much like people do as they are wed. The day came when we finally convened the troops at the wedding site, and with all of our efforts combined, we managed to erect Tim's vision over the course of a couple days. As a busy proprietor of his own business, I deeply appreciated that he was able to set aside time to personally oversee, sweat over, and contribute to the execution of his work. Hours later, we had not only raised what was in our hearts, we had a real piece of art that my wife and I intend to keep with us forever as a reminder of Tim's brilliance and generosity. In the process of hiring a high-caliber architect, I gained a high-quality friend.

Derrington Building Studios was perfect for the help I needed. I had been living in my 1960's home for three years and knew it had more potential. Associates with Derrington Building Studios including Tim Derrington, founder, were prompt with setting up times to meet and discuss the project. They found new use of old spaces within my existing floorplan and showed me how and where to expand to get more square footage while minimizing construction cost. After living in the home for three years and dreaming about the remodel I thought I had everything figured out but they were able to open my eyes to new ways to see my floorplan that greatly improved on my own concepts. Derrington Building Studios put together plans for an addition of a master suite including Jacuzzi bath and steam room, new laundry/utility room, and oversaw permitting through the complex City of Austin permitting process. They were able to meet my schedule and budget. I now live in my newly remodeled home that functions so much better. I am more than pleased with the council Derrington Building Studio provided and highly recommend them.

Tim created a wonderful design for re-making my 20 X 12 foot garage into an organized functional space for an office. The design for the exterior blended perfectly with the current design of the home. He was very easy to work with, reasonably priced and very quick in responding to questions and getting the final plans completed. I definitely recommend him as a person and as an architect. He's trustworthy and very talented.

I have recommended Derrington Studio to my friends on multiple occasions. We have hired Tim and his team for a couple of projects last year. We had them design an extension of our patio roof and a free-standing patio cover over our BBQ island. My husband and I were pleased with the results both times. We got solid, no-nonsense approach and advice, based on our needs and desires and after the execution of the plans - we could not have been any happier. We loved the attention to detail we got from Tim Derrington and we loved that he actually LISTENED, not just designed whatever he was in the mood for ( happened to us before). We were very pleased to be able to review and discuss the 3-D models of our projects that they came up with. We were even able to see what the view was from different angles and what the light and shade will be like at different times of the day and during different seasons! We got great suggestions on how to create a great lightweight structure ( not easy in our particular case) utilizing great modern materials and contemporary design. We loved the experience! We will definitely come to Tim again for our design needs and so will our friends, as so far they loved what they saw in our house!
