About Us

Designing a home is akin to assembling a puzzle. The overall look, feel, and function are not determined in isolation, but are rather the combination of thoughtfully executed elements to form a well articulated context. At Magnolia Custom Homes, we universally employ a body of principles which are fundamental to creating extraordinary spaces under any circumstance, regardless of whether the client's style is traditional, eclectic, rustic, or modern. Carmin founded Magnolia Custom Homes out of frustration over the poor workmanship and uninteresting floor plans she discovered when searching for her family's home. Her passion for design and building has propelled her to become one of the premier homebuilder's in the Chicago area. Her work has been featured in national and local publications such as The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Herald, and House Beautiful magazine. She was also featured on HGTV's "Dream House" series as she built her own family home.

Magnolia Custom Homes, specifically Carmin - the true workhorse and visionary of this brand, built a 3600 square foot home for our family in 2010. Building a home is very personal and can elicit HUGE emotions in people. Carmin is quite gifted at responding to and managing those emotions. When we hired Magnolia, we didn't just get a general contractor that managed our project, we got a partner in the construction and design of our home. She walked alongside us throughout the planning and design phases and helped us to stay on budget - often suggesting ways to shift money from one area of the project into another area where we would see the biggest benefit. When something unexpected arose (which it ABSOLUTELY will. every. time.), Carmin communicated with us promptly and problem-solved the issue in creative ways. I highly recommend Magnolia Custom Homes.

We designed and constructed a beautiful, custom dream home with Carmin. She provided very valuable feedback and suggestions during the process. We began the process with her based on HER expectations and standards which always matched or even exceeded ours. We were able to visit a couple of her completed (lived in) homes. It stood out and impressed us that her clients maintained respectful relationships and allowed potential clients to tour their beautiful homes post construction. Although the process took a little longer than anticipated, the overall experience and outcome was exceptional.

Carmin built our dream home 4 years ago. We really enjoyed the building process as she was very experienced and insightful and always had ideas and solutions for anything that arose during the process. We also loved working with all of her "subs," they were very professional, had great workmanship and uphold the high standards Carmin expects. I really enjoyed working with a woman. As a result, I felt like we were working with a builder AND a designer. She really listened and incorporated all of our ideas and the end result was a home way beyond our wildest dreams. More importantly than the building process, after our home was finished Carmin stood behind her work 110%. I feel very lucky to have worked with such a wonderful builder and would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to build their dream home.

Commented: Nice colors !Sorry for the delay. The walls are Benjamin Moore (BM) Coventry Grey and trim is BM Super White. The ceiling is %50 White and Coventry Grey.

Commented: Front doorIt is a Simpson #7506 in a double door. The glass is Seedy Baroque option. The species is fir that we painted black on the interior and stained on the exterior.
