Michael Gallin and his design team are top notch professionals, with creative genius and are an absolute joy to work with. They managed to unravel a ridiculously absurd home which had been renovated in the "strangest" of fashions in all directions and styles. It was hard to figure out how to get to the barebones of the once majestic 1890's Bedford Farmhouse. The mishmash of styles, colors and shape of the home we bought left us very confused as to how to bring it back to life without "overimproving" the asset. Michael had an immense challenging job. The front of the charming 3 level 1800's farmhouse had been lopped off to make room for a flat-roofed stone-faced garage upon which was placed a massive stucco gazebo with oversized arched windows. Guests were made to enter through a make-shift mudroom which hung to the side off of a large kitchen which had been tacked onto the side of the house by the road a few years earlier. That too had a gazebo growing from it's side but without the stucco. The master suites were located far off from the main house and one of the bedrooms required a walk up sidestairs- or through another bedroom and bathroom. That entire "wonky" wing of the house was built around 3 trees- two of which were already cut down which left the structure looking somehow vulnerable and at the strangest of angles. Beneath that bedroom was an archway to the backyard which you had to duckdown to enter and was the only way to get to the back yard. Most people thought it was a tear down. I wanted that 1890's farmhouse inside it all and the land and the location were impossible to beat. We however could not find for the life of us how to bring this back to life and within our budget. That is until Michael Gallin came onto the project. He did the miraculous. He was able to get into the house just on two quick occasions as the place was occupied for a whole year by the prior owners. SO he had the most immense challenge- to redesign this entirely just from pictures, one measurement and looking at the house from the outside. His first drawings moved us to tears. He was a pure genius. Working with him was also wonderful. I am rather opinionated and have very strong thoughts on form and beauty and function. The detailed specs he produced, the drawings, the work with the town, I could not be happier. Everyone who drives by our place slows their cars and looks at the incredible transformation from ugly to elegant which Gallin created. He earns our highest recommendation
