Gretchen Lyons

I wouldn't work with anyone other than Gretchen for my next kitchen project. She has an excellent eye for design and those extra touches that really brought my kitchen together. She was also very conscious of my budget and made great recommendations for how to spend the money where it would have the greatest impact. My husband and I are thrilled with the results. Our kitchen has all the benefits of a wonderful designer but is still the exact look and functionality that we were hoping to achieve.

I recently worked with Gretchen Lyons and Caruso Kitchens for our Kitchen Remodel. Renovating a kitchen, which is the center of our home, can be an extremely hard process. Gretchen made our experience a joy from start to finish. She was careful during the design stage, to take her time and make sure each decision was thought out, effective and stylish. If we hit a bump in the road, Gretchen was the first one to show up and find a resolution. We are very pleased with our final product and I would recommend using Gretchen and Caruso Cabinets to anyone!

I hired Gretchen to remodel a kitchen and a bathroom for a rental house I own to modernize it and make it more functional and appealing. We collaborated on the design, layout and materials together to maximized the space and select cabinets wisely for the greatest functionality while still keeping costs under it control. Gretchen was very responsive, professional and knowledgeable. She is easy to work with and practical. Gretchen also connected me to other recommendable professionals for cabinet installation, counter top selection and installation, and appliances. My wife and I have been wanting to remodel our house, with a specific emphasis on the kitchen for many years. Neither of us have a creative bone in our body and we were hesitant on how to proceed. With nothing more than a general idea of what we wanted, we stumbled onto Gretchen. Gretchen was able to take our vague concept and design a kitchen that we love. Gretchen's design far exceeded all of our expectations. She analyzed our old kitchen and knew precisely what special cabinets and drawers were needed to compliment the design. Gretchen was very professional and did a fantastic job putting our vision into a beautiful layout for our kitchen. Gretchen brought some great suggestions for the cabinets that have made a real difference in the functionality of our kitchen - it was a smaller space to begin with and we really needed to maximize! From the first meeting we had with Gretchen she made us feel at ease with the process that was all new to us. Gretchen is networked with many other good contractors and she helped us find the right places to get our appliances and other things we needed for the house. Gretchen’s calm amidst the storms of contractor drama was so helpful as we tried to navigate the communication issues with our general contractor and some of the subs who where difficult to work with. We wished we had known Gretchen *before* we hired our general contractor as we now know the whole process did not have to be so challenging! But working with Gretchen was easy. She is professional, knowledgable, friendly, and has a great eye and talent for the design work she does!

After being in our house for about 25 years we decided to do a complete kitchen and laundry remodel. We worked with Gretchen Lyons from start to finish on this big project and couldn't be happier with the results. Gretchen worked extensively with us on every facet of the project and was very helpful at helping us define what we wanted and coming to agreement about the details (saved our marriage ha ha). She was invaluable in selecting materials, appliances and contractors to work with. We found Gretchen to be very responsive and highly creative. She did an amazing job at turning an eyesore laundry room into a beautiful area. The general contractor and subs involved expressed surprise at how often Gretchen was at the job site, saying they rarely see that kind of attention from designers after the sale is made. We would highly recommend Gretchen !

I hired Gretchen Lyons for a full kitchen remodel. Gretchen was able to look at photos of kitchens or parts of kitchens I liked and came up with a design that was a great starting point. What I appreciated was how she was able to understand my style almost immediately. That helped a lot with narrowing the choices right away and I never felt that she was trying to inject her own style (great though it may be!) or personal preference into what I was trying to create. That said, one great thing about hiring a designer is that they also make sure you don’t do anything stupid or that you will regret, and that is worth a lot when you are spending the money on a remodel. I just think Gretchen struck a great balance between what I wanted and what would work in my space. Eventually I found a kitchen on Houzz that became my singular inspiration photo and Gretchen was amazing at taking the elements of what was a very high end and expensive kitchen and creating it in my space within my budget. I won’t lie - I did have to bump up my budget a bit to accommodate the design, but it was totally my decision and I never felt pressured to spend more than I was comfortable with. Remodeling and entire kitchen is a huge and overwhelming project and Gretchen was great about walking me through each step and leaving no stone unturned. She brought up things that I would have never thought about on my own (for example, placement of certain drawers/features and how they would function in the final product). She also had me do homework like listing my “must haves” vs. “would be nice to have”. Believe me, if you are doing a full kitchen, you NEED a professional like Gretchen to help with this! It was obvious from the beginning that she knows the industry and products inside and out. It may seem like it’s more expensive to hire a designer, but what is even more expensive is making a big mistake that you later regret or have to pay to fix. During the actual remodel, I was most impressed with how quickly and easily any small mistakes (and they do happen, it’s the nature of the beast) were rectified. I needed two new drawer fronts and some new wood features, and because of the great relationships Gretchen has with suppliers, it happened without any questions, additional charges, and very quickly. The final product was just amazing! It looks great, but the best feeling was unpacking all my boxes full of kitchen stuff and finding that everything had it’s place, every drawer was used well, and there were no awkward or odd spaces that I wished I had done something different with. My kitchen is super functional and a pure joy to cook in and spend time with family and friends in as well. I highly recommend Gretchen to design your kitchen!

Gretchen is a wonderful kitchen designer as she considers the needs of the client with regard to both design and budget. She is extremely knowledge and patient. She took the time with us to go over every detail before we started our kitchen project, even going over every single cabinet and drawer, and where we would store things. I love the extras we chose including cabinet dividers, a hidden silverware drawer, large drawers for pots and pans, a knife storage pullout and more. I would recommend Gretchen for any budget.
