About Us

Ideal Design Systems, Inc. chief architect, Deborah Shewaga, holds a Master degree in Architecture and a Bachelor in Environmental Studies. Deborah is a licensed member of the California Architects Board. Ideal Design Systems is located in North County San Diego, CA. We have worked on projects throughout all of San Diego County including, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, Escondido, Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff by the Sea, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Solano Beach, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, San Diego, and Imperial Beach. Working with clients on the smallest details to see their project dreams come true is is what we strive for. Developing close relationships with our clients is very important to us so we can really understand what they are looking to achieve. It is always a collaborative effort for us to work together to create the most beautiful, functional, cost effective result. We enjoy doing both the building structure and the interiors, creating a cohesive design from the outside in.

Deborah is a wonderful architect. Besides creating exquisite drawings for a property that has sailed through five city, state and community committees and numerous boards without contest, Deborah has made a potentially stressful process an exciting endeavor by listening carefully and incorporating our ideas and dreams into a reality. She is a professional who is detail oriented, dependable, timely, competent, creative and an excellent communicator - with us, engineering firms, city planners and committee and board members. Deborah is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her services without reservation.

Deb is absolutely wonderful to work with. She listens to what you are trying to accomplish and her plans reflect what she hears. She is also mindful of budget constraints and, consequently, practical in her design suggestions and contractor recommendations. Finally, she is completely accessible and always makes you feel like you are her number one client.

Deborah of Ideal Design provided the professional insight and knowledge we needed to help us make the best decisions in our rennovation project, maximazing space efficiency and style. She was easy to work with and a very paitent during numerous plan revisions. She was also able to get our permits to start in record time... Awsome experience.

Deborah has done two projects for us. The first was mainly landscaping -- trellis, roof extensions, and hardscape for gardening. The second was an addition to our house that completely changed the look of the house from the street. It went from a generic beach cottage to a modern craftsman style with folding doors, high ceilings, and flying roofs. Both architectural plans were approved without changes, and all inspections passed with no issues. She is a talented architect and has a great eye for design, color, and details.

Deborah has designed 2 additions to our home over the past 4 years. She has an amazing eye, attention to detail and really listens to what her clients like. She did a seamless job of blending in old and new elements of the home.

I hired Ideal Design Systems to provide architectural plans and finish design for a complete remodel of my 1850 sf townhouse. It was great to find someone (Deborah Shewaga) who was willing and able to do both. Deborah was with me every step of the way, creating architectural drawings, getting permits, picking out flooring, tile, paint, finishes, etc., inspecting the construction. Thanks to Deborah's good work the project turned out way better than if I had tried to do it myself. She figured out how to make the most of my space, knocking down walls where necessary to improve the layout, and made a significant upgrade to my lighting. Her eye for design resulted in beautiful rooms and a cohesive look throughout the house. Overall, I'm really happy with my remodel and very glad I chose to use Deborah on the project.

This was our first experience hiring an architect after designing and building two other houses ourselves. Working with Deborah was truly a great experience who also shared her design ideas with our contractor to keep everything on our 'wish list' in perspective. We are in the process of a complete remodel of a small beach cottage and she was able to translate my ideas and suggestions into a well thought out open floor plan and design. She is professional, prompt in her response time to my endless questions and her working ability with the staff at the city building planning department got our plans through the city in record time. I would not hesitate to recommend her. I can hardly wait to share pictures of the 'before and after' to show you a truly amazing transformation.

I am an electrical contractor that had the privilege to work on 2 projects with Deborah Shewaga. She is very devoted to the projects she takes on and strives for perfection on every detail. She answered my questions very quickly which made my job easier. From the very beginning of the project during grading and foundation, Deborah would be on site routinely making sure everything was getting done correctly. I look forward to working with Deborah in the future.

I've been building & remodeling custom houses for 40 years and as a general contractor and project manager I find it necessary to get clarification from the Architect on details, products and materials. Typically I have to wait for a response from the Architect but not with Deborah Shewaga. She was always immediately accessible and would do whatever it took to get me answers and directions quickly. She was invaluable as a resource to keep the project rolling. She would research and find the best materials and suppliers to keep me on the job and making progress. I could call Deborah day or evening whenever I needed to discuss issues with the project. She was always there for me and usually ahead of my questions because she always was involved with the project. She is the best partner I've ever had and I know she will help any project from design to build and get it done more efficiently and successfully. I can not say enough good things about Debra.

Prior to selecting an architect for our major house expansion and remodel, my wife and I researched numerous firms in the area. We selected Ideal Design based on their previous work, client feedback and our initial discussions with Deborah. Now that we are nearly complete with design and ready to submit our permit applications, we have not been disappointed with our choice of architect. Deborah has been a joy to work with. Her entire team has proven to be highly competent and very responsive. Minor changes in the design have been done without any fuss and Ideal Design has shown themselves to be dedicated in making our Craftsman remodel something that all parties can be proud of. Deborah's one on one service to her customers is outstanding. We would highly recommend her to anyone undertaking a home remodel or new construction.

We had the distinct pleasure of having Deborah Shewaga of Ideal Design Systems Inc. draw up the design of our new home. We were very pleased with the results of the design and the way that the whole building experience was handled by Deborah Shewaga . We are now living quite happily in our new home. We have no hesitation in recommending Ideal Design Systems Inc. to anyone for either new home construction or renovations,additions,or remodeling of their existing home.

To whom it may concern, Deborah Shewega is more than a great Architect. Deborah provides excellent designs in waterproofing and installation of exterior siding and windows and doors for harsh and Coastal environments.
