Becca and Katie have been absolutely brilliant. We were renovating a cottage in York for a holiday let and House of Joan were recommended by the letting agents. They provided a truly excellent service and their attention to detail is second to none. We gave them a pretty free rein to decorate the property in keeping with the period details, but with a modern twist. They sourced all the furniture and soft furnishings and lighting. They made trips to the flooring company and gave us clear details of the flooring they recommended and similarly with the bathroom suite and kitchen units etc. We had an issue with a couple of the items supplied, e.g. the bath and one of the lights and they sorted it all out, making sure the items were either returned or repaired to their high standards. They provided a clear detailed budget with the items they intended to source. At the final reckoning, they actually came in under budget! This definitely doesn't show in the quality of the look and feel of the finished property though: they have brilliant mixed high-street finds with unique items such as the bespoke headboards covered in beautiful fabric and the blinds made by their seamstress. They also were happy to work with the various trades who were working on the property and kept us informed.

I’m so grateful to Rebecca and Katie for helping me to quite literally transform parts of my home. They led me through an effective design process which involved getting to know me and my needs, sharing options for me to choose from or change, and advising on how to organise decorating, purchasing and installation. Fantastic experience start to finish. I asked Katie to design a scheme and kit out our new Studio Apartment Holiday let in York. I found her incredibly professional, efficient, and organised. Her attention to detail and thoroughness throughout the project was second to none, and if we did this a second time, I would not hesitate to work with Katie again (although she does all the work!) We had a number of timing hitches along the way - my end not Katie's, and she very swiftly moved things around to accommodate these changes. Very highly recommended. Totally transformed our holiday cottage using lovely warm colours and fabrics. The whole project was managed from start to finish, including sourcing new furniture, as well as organising electricians , plumbers, and decorators. Nothing was too much trouble .

From the very first meeting with Rebecca and Katie we knew that we were in safe hands. They listened carefully to what we wanted from our home and provided beautifully detailed schemes of work. Their eye for detail is fabulous and I am so pleased with the results. They sourced gorgeous fabrics, soft furnishings and small pieces of furniture for us. We also had an old sofa recovered and it looks amazing! They were never pushy or too busy to help. What really stood out was their ability to source a wide variety of furniture that suited different budgets. This meant that we were able to splurge on certain things but then save on others. This really helped us feel like we could keep control of our budget and at no point did we ever feel pressured to purchase a more expensive item. They provided accurate and timely billing which again meant no hidden surprises. Our home feels so welcoming now and we enjoy entertaining our friends and family. We would certainly recommend them!

We couldn't recommend these lovely ladies highly enough. We have worked on and off with them for 7 years. They have done pretty much our whole house and we love it. Their designs and creations are tailor made to the detailed brief they discuss with you. They are organised and efficient and always deliver. As we have two young children we needed to incorporate practicality and function as well as design which they were great for along with saving us a considerable amount on furniture that they procured at auctions.
