I became fascinated with the process of turning designs into reality as a child, when I visited my father’s Chicago architecture and engineering firm on weekends. In exchange for sharpening designers’ pencils, I got to experience a bustling business world, where people played with colors, textures and styles that transformed naked spaces into gleaming gems. In college, as an American studies major, I was instinctively drawn to historic buildings and homes, learning all I could about period influences on design. I became a TV and film producer, learning business and management skills while working with a team of talented professionals to turn scripts into entertainment. All of these experiences led me to pursue an interior design degree and form KDT Designs, Inc. nearly 25 years ago. As owner of KDT Designs, I make customer service the top priority. I have a keen understanding of designs and blueprints, an eye for aesthetics, and the ability to work in partnership with contractors and suppliers. And I continue to feel the sense of fun about Interior design that I discovered in childhood. The uniqueness of each project energizes me and I love seeing the transformation, as elements of space, light, color, pattern and style combine to form a client’s ideal environment. My services range from selecting paint colors to developing and executing complete design plans. Vendors are carefully chosen, based on proven experience and solid reputations. Projects are never finished until clients are totally satisfied with the results. A job is never too big or too small.
