Keystone Custom Homes

My experience with Keystone has been fairly good so far, except when an issue arose with our kitchen island. We wanted an accent island with a different color (green) to stand out from our kitchen cabinets, which is cream. If you didn't want to spend more money to have cabinets all around the island, we were not told the replacement would be a cheap white drywall. Why would anyone want a 1/2 green 1/2 white island? We paid extra money for the island to be sage green, not 1/2 of it to be a white drywall. After we expressed our dissatisfaction, we were told we would have to fork out money to pay for the drywall parts to be skinned to match the rest. This is completely unacceptable since we thought we were getting a 100% green island AND we were NEVER told it would not be entirely green. It's not noted anywhere in the design contract so I am extremely infuriated that this cost is not being waived due to the design of the island was not clearly stated from the beginning.

If I could give it several minus starts I would. Bought a house built by Keystone only 8 years ago and the quality is plain awful. The floors bounce A LOT, there is no real heating in one of the rooms, the house makes cracking noises, the ceiling in the family room is not straight (in one area you could see the tape wasn't put in properly), and I could go on and on. I reached out to Keystone mainly because of the floors bounciness since this is due to the floor joists installation and they told me that I'm the second owner and the warranty only extends to the first owner. I looked up the manufacturer specification of the floor joists and it looks like the ones they put in should've been at 1/2 the distance - no wonder they bounce like crazy. Don't recommend this company at all.

Keystone sub contractors destroyed our private property and private right of away The representatives from Keystone made promises to us landowners to restore our road to existing conditions and did not perform the work that was promised! I have made calls to Keystone and nobody responds. Two representatives from Keystone walked the right of way with me and promised that when the project was completed that Keystone would stone and regrade our right of way. This was not completed! If the contractor would have researched what salt does to a gravel road our right of way would not have been destroyed.

Keystone only cares about Keystone!!! If you want privacy in your backyard,, DONT build with Keystone! Keystone will put public walking paths in your backyard. You will lose all privacy, have strangers looking in your windows and have to watch your children constantly as they try to play in their yard. Worst development plans I ever seen. Don't be fooled by Keystone like we were. Being forced to move from our home bc Keystone didn't finish plans 12 years ago and now want to put public walking paths right beside our backyard. We did tried talking to Keystone but they refuse to reroute the paths or come talk in person.

I never write reviews. But this company has impressed me. We replaced our 20 y/o deck with a custom deck from Keystone. Honestly, could not of asked for a better crew than Dave, Wayne and John. From the first day on the job and EVERY DAY till completion (5 weeks later) they arrived and were ready to work at 7:00 ... EVERY DAY. Ended the day at 4:00, cleaned up and organized our site for the next day.... EVERY DAY. Dave kept me informed on the daily progress and what to expect to be completed by the end of the week. We had a fireplace included in our project. The mason’s (Gideon and Eric) came to build the fireplace, it was pure joy to watch them work. This project was a major home improvement project for us. It’s difficult to trust a contractor these days to; 1-communicate 2-show up 3-respect your property 4-do real quality work. This company, from designing our vision to the building of it has exceeded our expectations.

Purchased an already built home and while we did not get the “full” experience we really appreciate all the effort that was made to make us feel at home. We are very happy to be moved in and settled so quickly. Just a little sad that the deck we had purchased was not built at the time of settlement.

Great home builder company. Good communication thru entire process from start to finish. Home is incredibly efficient and beautiful. Would definitely work with them again and I would recommend keystone to everyone!

Very good experience. Very professional and accommodating. Worked well with us on a very custom home. Still have a few outstanding issues, but they are working hard to resolve them.

From the sales/design at the start to the construction/quality control inspections the staff at Keystone have been outstanding. We are very pleased with our new home and the quality work and great staff made it even better. We would highly recommend Keystone Custom Homes to anyone interested in building their new home!

Lousy quality. Squeaks and noises throughout the house. Lots of vibration when you walk on any floor. The builder would not fix anything properly.

I would not recommend any of my friends to build with this company. My house have many uneven walls including my front door. My driveway retains water and it seems like keystone does not want to fix it. If I could of post a pic I would. My house not even 6 months old had a exploded pipe in the basement and caused floding, thanks god I had a sub pump. This was do to improper basment insulation. Almost every step going up to the second floor pops (lose steps). All these issues have been presented to keystone and I am not getting the assistance I need. This serves as a great learning experience, as this was my first home purchase. I am very unhappy with keystone they do not stand by thier word and make things right.

Our experience with Keystone Custom Homes was extremely positive and I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in building a quality home. From our first experience with Mike Klaips, sales representative to our final inspections with Jonathan Hakala and Steve Ault, were were impressed with the attention to detail and the "plus one" customer service we received. During the initial phase, Mike Klaips took the time to share the various options in models and he provided detailed information regarding the upgrade options available to us. The technology provided enabled us to carefully choose options and make adjustments in our choices before a final plan was created. He was instrumental in connecting us with Mortgage Network and we can't say enough about Shelly Burkholder and Cheryl Spaar from the Mortgage Network office. They, along with the Keystone staff provided detailed information and made the mortgage process seamless. The design phase was also a wonderful experience. The design center was easily accessible and the staff was extremely helpful as we made selections, providing advice as requested and offering refreshments during our visits. They also welcomed the whole family as we shared the experience with extended family members. After construction began, we were provided with extensive information with weekly updates along with detailed explanations of the different construction phases. When we had questions we were provided with information the same day. The crew stayed on schedule and the regular updates continued. We are now in our new home and the few things that needed to be addressed have been taken care of in a timely manner with attention to detail. Keystone has obviously hired quality people who communicate on a regular basis. This is key to the success of any organization and we, as the customer reaped the benefits. Once again, I would highly recommend Keystone Custom Homes to anyone who is interested in having a rewarding experience with building a quality home. ,

.We recently settled and moved into an Ethan floor plan home built by Keystone. We began the process of building a new house in the summer of 2012. At that time we did our due diligence and looked at a variety of builders, their developments, and floor plans. We were very surprised to find such a large price difference between a 3,200 sq ft house built by Keystone and one built by any other Harrisburg based builder, the price difference in most cases was at least $100,000. After a visit to Bowcreek and meeting a great Keystone New Home Advisor we realized the difference was due to Keystone not forcing us to choose a specific “package” which might contain items we liked (i.e. granite counter tops) but might also contain items we did not (i.e. fireplace). All options are available from Keystone but you pick the options you want and only pay for those options. If you do not want a fireplace you do not pick a fireplace and you do not pay for a fireplace. When we sat down to do some value analysis the choice was clear, the value that Keystone provided was so much better than any other Harrisburg based builder. Over the course of the next year we looked at various developments and models from Keystone. Every New Home Advisor we met was very well informed and helped us understand the floor plans and the building process. While looking at other developments built by other builders we were only able to meet with realtors, not someone employed by the builder. While talking with these realtors any time we had a question about the process or options we were told we had to talk with the builder, however, it was never explained to us how or when we could talk to the builder. That was a big difference with Keystone, their New Home Advisors are employees of Keystone and understand their processes and floor plans. In the summer of 2013, while expecting our first child in October, we decided we had to start building. We found the development we wanted but we also found there were not many lots left and even fewer that would meet our needs. Therefore we decided to go ahead and have our first baby and build our dream house in the same few months. The Keystone team was great to work with at this time. They were very patient with us and worked around our schedule. Our daughter was born 5 weeks early in early September. Again the Keystone team adjusted their normal processes to work with us mostly over email so we could review plans and choices on our schedule. Building began at the end of October and was completed in late December. If I had chosen the profession I would have been a fourth generation carpenter. When I was younger I spent several years working for my dad, a general contractor, and helped build a couple houses along with additions. I knew what I was looking for during construction. We did our due diligence again and checked in with construction every couple days. There were a couple minor issues we found along the way, all of which were quickly resolved after mentioning to our builder. In the end the house came out great, exceeding our expectations. We have now moved our new family into our dream house built by Keystone Custom Homes and I would highly recommend them to anyone. You can not beat the value, people, or workmanship.

The selection of model's was extensive... we were able to find the perfect model for us.... Our experience was very favorable, and very efficient assistance through the entire project. We are very impressed with the professionalism from start to finish. We are happy with the quality of workmanship, and the ability to meet the deadlines established. We appreciated the communications as the project progressed. My experience with Keystone custom homes has been a great pleasure. Throughout the entire process everyone that my husband and I encounter has always been professional, thoughtful, and courteous. An addition our salesperson was very knowledgeable about each type of home. We chose the Jordan traditional, which gave us the best option for the cost. In addition, the design center took time to show us different options without pushing us to make haste decisions. Finally, each and every engineer welcome us as we entered our unbuilt home; making sure we were safety procedures were followed, as we went through and on the property. I would recommend anyone that have dreams of getting a home built should look at Keystone custom home.

Choosing to a build a home with Keystone was one of the best decisions I have ever made. From my very first meeting with Randy at Castleton, to the day I actually made the final decision to purchase, customer service was obviously a #1 priority. Everyone I worked with along the process of building was professional and helpful, constantly doing their best to support me during the process and put together my dream home. Once I moved in, the customer service didn't stop. I had a few minor problems and they were immediately corrected. I even had a problem with my front door, and although my home was past the one year check-in, Keystone corrected the problem due to records of their past inspection. As a first time homeowner, I feel proud of my house and my decision to have a Keystone custom home!
