About Us

Great design springs from productive collaboration between vested partners with the development of shared pride in the end product. The free and open exchange of ideas is critical to seeing any design achieve its full potential. Lodestone Design Group was formed with the understanding that an architect's role in any design project should extend far beyond drawing plans. A truly valuable architect will add reason to the cacophony of voices and should provide direction along the design path for participants who may be less experienced navigating the design and construction process. Jeffrey Van Sambeek is a licensed architect and head of Lodestone Design Group. Jeff brings the value of more than 15 years of experience in architecture, planning, interior design and construction management to every project he participates in. His work experience includes several hundred unique structures including homes, offices, stores, restaurants, and municipal buildings.

Jeff and his team get things done! Two of my townhomes in Boulder were substantially damaged by fire and created an interesting challenge to design the rebuild between two other units that weren't damaged. We are mostly through the design process and Jeff and his team have been incredible to work with. Jeff's vast knowledge of construction along with his experience with working with the City of Boulder has proved invaluable. I look forward to the next phase of the project and feel confident it will be done right, with Jeff's participation.

Jeff is a talented architect and a pleasure to work with. My wife and I were pleased with his ability to take our dream home vision and make it a reality on paper. We were also pleased with his ability to quickly make revisions to the drawings based upon our feedback. Jeff does a good job of listening, is respectful, a hard worker, and is patient. We were nervous about selecting an architect, however Jeff came through as he exceeded our expectations. I would strongly recommend Jeff as he is a great architect!

Lodestone brings something special to the table. Their knowledge, experience, and creativity put us at ease and eliminated any stress surrounding undertaking a big design project in our home (upstairs remodel design including a master bathroom). They are professional and they meet deadlines. They were respectful of our budget and offered many options for us to consider along the way. We plan to continue to use them in the future for our next project (kitchen).

My wife and I hired Lodestone Design Group to help make our dream become reality. With the guidance of Jeff Van Sambeek we purchased a home built in the 1960s. We scraped that home and started over fresh. Although many new homes in our Country Club have gone the Colorado/Tuscan route we opted to go more east coast traditional with red brick and pre-cast stone. Jeff adapted easily to this style and nailed it! His attention to detail really made the home come alive. There wasn't anything he overlooked. We loved working with Jeff. He was professional, genuine, and always available to review our project. Our overall experience was amazing!

Jeff is an incredible person as well as an unbelievable architect. We have a complex lot where we are building our house. We described what we would like for our house, he came up with a house layout and included exactly what we wanted and needed. His understanding of both house design and code requirements really helped us put together a functional design that was compliant with Boulder's complex building requirements. During the permitting process he quickly addressed any concerns or changes required by the county. We asked him a lot of questions and he quickly and readily answered our questions which took a lot of stress out of the process. Jeff always has both a professional and positive attitude. Jeff can design a house for any requirements and budget.

Our experience with Jeff at Lodestone has been nothing other than fantastic. He has done two projects for us that both utilized our ideas incorporating bits of existing structures to create unique and beautifully functional homes. We clicked with Jeff immediately and found him to be highly knowledgeable and, something you don't always find, a great communicator who was immediately responsive to our ideas and questions. In short, he got us! He was the first step in bringing to life our upscale farmhouse vision and he made it a pleasure.
