Marc Rutenberg Homes

My wife and I contracted with Marc to build our dream home in what was going to be a new subdivision of 18 million dollar + homes in October 2018. It is now November of 2020 and all of the site work is still not completed. Not a single home has been built. Dont contract with Marc unless you have 5 years to get your house completed. Rumor has it that the engineering firm doesnt get paid properly so they walk off the job (3rd time since summer 2020), Marc, the owner makes lots of promises but offers zero transparency and cant ever live up to commitments or promises. We are so disappointed in this disaster.

I went into contract with Marc Rutenberg and for personal reasons I had to cancel it. Even though the contract we signed estates that I can get my deposit back, I have been waiting for a refund for more than 7 months. They do not answers my calls and they have been very unprofessional. If you are looking to build a house DO NOT use Marc Rutenberg. It has been a nightmare for me and my family.

If I could give Marc Rutenberg homes a zero star rating I would unequivocally, and without hesitation, do so! Our house was supposed to take 16-18 months to build and it actually took 48 months to build. Yes that’s not a typo. Add onto that figure 30 months to actually start building from when the contract was initially signed. So a total of 6 1/2 years from signing the contract to move in. So that’s many more months of interest only payments on my construction loan that wouldn’t have had to have been made had the house been done anywhere near the time frame given to us by mrh. I can also tell you not once did Marc or anyone in his company give us an apology for the house taking forever to build! Awful!! This company is poorly run and communication is the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’ve had so many subs throughout the build process tell me that they aren’t getting paid for their work and weren’t coming back to finish until they get money from mrh. That contributed to the delay for sure. I’ve also had a couple of subs tell me they haven’t been paid anything at all for the work they’ve done on the house and they’ve both have asked me to try and help them get paid by reaching out to mrh. They don’t respond at all and completely ignore these requests. Marc is very arrogant and won’t speak to you after he gets paid his money. He lets George(who was very rude and disrespectful to my wife and myself multiple times) do all of the communicating. They promised to build an awning over my outdoor kitchen(as compensation for the house taking forever)and lied to me about it being paid for already. They told me it was ordered and paid for and then after closing they changed their mind and said they aren’t providing it anymore. Despite having an email from his daughter(who works for the company) stating that it will be provided to us free of charge as compensation they just say no we’ve decided we aren’t doing that for you and that it’s not their problem. I could go on and on! They company is awful and all you get is lies and lies and lies. I don’t know how they stay in business as so many subs have told me they’re no longer working with mrh homes because they don’t get paid and are the worst builder they’ve ever worked with. Just wanted to share my experience. Marc is truly a professional with a heart. We were (at the time) a young couple looking for a larger home for our growing family. Marc stayed within our budget and extended himself so we could afford our new home. We lived there for nearly 12 years without any build issues. Needless to say when we moved, we were heartbroken to leave it behind. Marc builds high quality, beautiful and functional homes. One can see the details throughout, a testament to the deep pride he holds in his work. Working with him was effortless and I recommend him 100%. Thank you, Marc for helping us make our dreams come true and creating such a gorgeous home so long ago.

We had a Marc Ruttenberg home built in 1991 and are still living our home. The quality of the home still makes us very happy, and would use this builder again if we decided to build another home

If your considering a luxury homebuilder who is innovative and hands-on, he should strongly be considered.
