Talented, patient, honest, knowledgeable, professional, caring... We just can't say enough wonderful things about working with Michael! Our project involved converting a large playroom into a new, master suite - and the end result is not only beautiful, fresh and modern, it is seamlessly integrated into the rest of the house. He works collaboratively with his clients to bring great ideas to life - on time and within budget. He had great communication with us throughout the entire project and was on top of every last detail until it was completed. We are so excited with our new renovation and will definitely be calling him for our next project...and the next one after that too!

Michael is an architect with an uncanny depth of knowledge whose style has a broad range. Recently, my wife and I decided to do a master suite addition and remodel to our 1958 ranch style Florida home. We wanted to find someone who could appreciate the soul of the house but use their eye to modernize this home and craft a vision of what true Florida modern living should be. We didn't necessarily want to do the typical contemporary approach that you find from the million architects in South Florida; we wanted a respect for the mid century with the functionality of modern Florida living. We engaged Michael for the project and through the initial design phase the process has been incredibly smooth. Michael is a professional's professional - talented, open minded, client focused. We could not be happier with the experience so far. He provides ideas but is open to hearing client ideas as well -- the dialog truly goes both ways. This has given us a lot of confidence that once we finish our remodel and addition, our house will truly be a next level and unique Florida family home. Do not hesitate and give him a call if you have a project you want for your home.

Michael was a pleasure to work with, going above & beyond in efforts to help us with a home addition project. He is a true professional & removed any pre-conceived home improvement worries. His recommendations & feedback greatly assisted my wife & I during the decision making process. Michael is a seasoned pro & delivers on time & works within the budget. His work is second to none & recommend him to friends & family happily.

Mike has been the most professional and honest individual I have ever dealt with in architecture/construction. He has completed multiple projects at my home including a bathroom remodel, a sliding gate and back yard enclosure, as well as an outdoor kitchen/gazebo that is absolutely stunning! He has always been fair and honest and is a pleasure to be work with! I had the privilege of present an idea and letting mike do his magic to bring it to life. To say my expectations of the final products were exceeded is an understatement! Highly recommended!

Comment from Michael Fine Architecture:
Thank you for the opportunity to create several unique structures to enhance your wonderful home, create a pleasant environment to entertain and most of all, a killer place to throw a barbeque. Working with you two couldn't have been more enjoyable, you gave me the opportunity and I'm so flattered that it exceeded your expectations.

Michael is a very talented professional. Excellent level of integrity and dedication. Always listening to clients and giving excellent ideas to optimize the spaces. He is proactive and communicates well to complete challenging projects.
I knew Michael through one of my good friends and I couldn’t be happier with his recommendation. We started talking about our design many months before we started the construction. He attended every meeting on time with new ideas (which is not usual in Miami) and worked with my wife in all the changes. He not only helped us with the architectural design but he also took care of every single detail and was on top of the whole project in every stage.
I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

June 2019 Update - more than 2 years later:
I was sorely disappointed when I got 4 bids for the plans Michael drew up. They were 1.5 to 2 times my budget - and that was before considering anything unexpected. I was waiting on Michael's bid at this point. However, across several communications, Michael led me to believe he was waiting on bids from sub-contractors only to let me know that he, himself, would no longer send me a bid because he would not come in at an amount very different from that of the other bidders. My husband did not hide his disappointment in 1) the fact that the scale of the project was wayyyyy outside our established budget based on the 4 bids we received and 2) that Michael was now walking back all the things we appreciated about him. Michael will tell you that we misunderstood and that he was simply too busy at the time to work on our project.
On several occasions during the permitting process, I brought up the flood elevation and that given the scale of our project/plans, the city will require that we raise the floors. Michael did not believe me until he spoke to the city building department which confirmed what I had said. Because of this huge miss, we had to redraw the plans to a lesser scope, raise the floors or do the project in 2 phases (1 year in between phases 1 and 2) - Mind you we are now almost 2 years into this. And here I am, more than 2 years later with plans I cannot execute and in the re-drawing stages. It has been very painful and a huge let down for us, as well as the cause of a lot of stress.
Michael is great at drawing and thinking through the spaces. But just be careful about your budget. Maybe my pockets weren't deep enough but either way, I was always harping on the budget every chance I got and at every meeting.
Previous post:
After spending time working on our plans with Michael, then pouring over every details of the plans to make sure our vision becomes a reality, I can say that Michael is a true professional with vast experience and vision. His experience came through ever so clearly through his designs as they struck the perfect balance to get us what we want, while being budget-conscious and beautiful. He captured what we needed and what we wanted in a smart and beautiful way. We were very happy to work with Michael. He is responsive and caring. Understanding we were new to the process of home renovations, Michael was very patient in answering our innumerable questions. He clearly put a lot of thought (and his experience) in the layout and flow of the design which helped mitigate a lot of questions and faux-pas leading up to the permitting process. We feel very good going into the permitting stage with Michael's designs in hand and with Michael on our team.

Comment from Michael Fine Architecture:
The most significant portion of the revised post was where it was insinuated that "their pockets weren't deep enough" for our firm which, of course, is untrue. We provide services for projects with exactly the same, and often smaller, scope and cost but this client felt that our desire not to pursue the construction phase with them had something to do with their stated budget. We had solicited bids from the various subcontractors and were assembling our bid package but, in the interim, had been awarded several projects of similar size prior to bid submittal. This reality required us to inform them we had maximized our ability to properly man the project with the time needed to provide the quality of service our clients expect and deserve and offered our services if they could wait until the timing was more conducive. We pride ourselves on quality which is why we limit the number of projects at any one time. Some projects and clients are more conducive to a mutually beneficial and respectful relationship, this unfortunately was not the case thus our desire not to pursue it any further.
Although it was noted in both reviews that our design abilities met their needs, their stated scope of work exceeded their budget and the value of their residence was too low for the stated scope as it relates to the flood criteria so we addressed it by revising the plans at no additional cost, we were progressing together until they decided that they no longer wished to proceed. I find it intriguing that we were progressing with the revised drawings, they solicited bids that were acceptable and then they decided not to proceed, after all the issues noted were behind us.
Had they proceeded, I am confident that the resultant finished product would have exceeded their expectations as evidenced by our projects shown on this site and our 30 years of success in the residential sector. We have a wonderful portfolio of projects with a smaller scope and budget and continue to accept a diverse cross section of residential projects in south Florida..

We used Michael to renovate our house. He was great to work with--he would make suggestions but would also accept our changes. Also, he made sure all of the subs did the work that was required according to the plans. In short, he really cared that the house came out great and it did. We appreciated all of his hard work and would recommend him.

Michael Fine is doing renovations on my house as well rental property.
He has been doing an excellent job. He is very responsive to phone calls and requests and acts very timely. He also has very creative ideas and is an excellent problem solver.
He is organized in his approach and understands the nuances of architecture and design as well as the construction side of what needs to be done to complete the job.
It is great to have an architect that can also take care of the construction so that one person designs and oversees the building/renovation project.

I can build and do minor renovations but I have no sense of design and definitely have no vision. I have a historic home in Miami Beach and hired Michael as a consultant to recommend and design a plan that would allow us to slowly renovate and update at our own time and budget over a 5 year period in way that would tie everything together so that by end of our renovations when you walked throughout our house from the the front yard to the back it would feel like one overall design and concept. We just completed all our work last summer in time to host 2 wedding parties for our children and Michael was with us 5 years ago and was with us at the wedding. He understood our budget constraints and recommended the best course to follow.

Mike a highly skilled architect. I've had the pleasure of working with him professionally and I have to say he is one of, if not the best architect in Southern Florida. On a personal note... He is very kind and pleasant to be around after many projects and 5 years I do consider him a good friend. I recommend him 100% and blindfolded for any design build project.

Michael Fine did phenomenal work on my home. No only did he help us build our dream kitchen, but he was patient and supportive the entire time. He went above and beyond with not only the design but putting the pieces together. He was extremely efficient and professional from beginning to end. As soon as work start, it was none stop until our final product was achieved. Our project was probably not one of the funnest to undertake, but he really helped us reach our goal smoothly. Without his talent it would not have been possible. He made our kitchen the heart of our home.

Michael Fine is professional, reliable and capable of adjusting project needs according to unexpected changes when in the heart of the project. Our new wall of windows seemed straight forward yet required much more underground to secure the integrity of a thirty foot length of windows. He and his staff were kind and reassuring and did their best to remain economical.

We immediately knew hiring Michael was the right decision. Not only did the renovation on our home come out better than we had imagined, but Michael finished on time and within our budget, both were things we were worried about having spoken to our friends about their experience with other architects. The fantastic ideas that Michael incorporated into the design of our kitchen and the beautiful details that he brought to the bathroom design were stunning, and have helped us get more than a few compliments from our friends and family. I've already recommended Michael to another friend. He certainly has a lot of experience, brings a lot of expertise and truly has a great work ethic. Most importantly, he really brought a wonderful attitude and great demeanor to his work, which made the process of renovating our home very smooth. We are more than impressed with the work Michael has provided and would certainly work with him again in the future.

We have used Michael on two different projects and would definitely use him again. He is very talented, creative, and meticulous with the details that really make a room stand out. Anytime we thought we hit an obstacle, as is way too common when remodeling an older home, he would find a solution that always ended up looking like it was always part of the plan. Moreover, he worked well with everyone involved with our project and was always willing to help in any way. We are especially pleased with our new front entry and the open floor plan that includes architectural details such as columns and lighted niches for artwork. We could not be happier with our bright, spacious, and welcoming home.
