Matthew La Piana, Registered Architect

BRCU was founded by Principal Architect Matthew C. La Piana in 2015. He earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University at Buffalo and has complemented his academic studies with a significant amount of construction experience. With over 15 years of field experience as a mason’s laborer, carpenter, an estimator and a construction project manager, Matthew is an expert in understanding how buildings work. His academia training provided the insight while his field experience provided a solid understanding of the built environment. Following graduation, he went on to extend the learning process, accepting a position as a design engineer in one of America’s most distinguished historic preservation companies; Boston Valley TerraCotta. Building on this base, he furthered his technical understanding of how buildings function, working for several accomplished structural engineering consulting firms in NYC. There, he aggregated his previous roles to become the lead in many high-value, multi-story, multi-use restoration projects.
