I have been working with David Neiman for some time now on a new house design and construction. He has been wonderful to work with. He is very professional, designs great quality and understands our style and desires in the project. It has not been without construction issues and he has stuck with us to help work out our difficulties. I will be both thrilled and sad when our home is complete....sad only because our relationship with David Neiman architects will be over.

The Umbrella House, as designed by David Neiman Architects, embodies a sanctuary of light & space; specially framed with high ceilings, open atrium vestibule, oversized windows, & open floor plan for modern living. This unique home is thoughtfully designed and lends itself naturally to the landscaped grounds with glass shoji doors leading out to Brazilian ironwood deck. Three bedrooms upstairs with loft-like flavor, including a master suite. Lower level theater room & guest quarters. Sited in popular Phinney Ridge neighborhood, and completed in 2007.

David is a great guy to work with, and a true professional. The proof is in the pudding, the townhouses that he and his cohorts designed for my company exceeded our projected sales price. Feedback has been resoundingly positive from prospective buyers, typical comments include "I love how many windows there are" and "it feels much bigger than the listed square feet". In addition, I think David has an exceptional grasp on land use, permitting and construction issues, and has come up with some creative ideas and solutions that are really above and beyond.

I have worked with David on a couple of projects. He is a fantastic architect to work with. He is fair, communicates clearly and quickly which is a major plus in my book. I highly value his insight and input. He is a wealth of information and a go-getter. ;-) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to any one. Some have asked how I found David and I tell them, I was looking at property next to his and liked what I saw and discovered he was the designer of his home and from there, I ended up hiring him. Again, you can't go wrong with David Neiman.

We had a great experience working with architect David Neiman, who designed our home and assisted with its construction. Neiman is easy to work with; he is patient and has a sunny disposition. He's also very knowledgeable and responsive. We liked that he had wide range of design and work experience to draw upon. We were drawn to his contemporary design aesthetic and his well-developed philosophies for building houses in the Northwest climate. He is well versed in sustainable design and gave us helpful guidance in making our project as low-impact as possible. David was also very helpful with material selection, colors, and interior design, which ultimately saved us a lot of time and headache, since we did not have to start from scratch.
David also assisted with estimating costs and developing budgets for our project. In conjunction with our general contractor, he worked to refine the design to make it as cost-effective as possible. We kept David involved throughout the construction process and thought he worked very well with our general contractor to ensure that our project came out as expected.
We are very pleased with our home. We recommend him wholeheartedly to others.

David Neiman totally re-did an old retail space and it needed a lot of work! The end result was better than I expected!

Comment from Neiman Taber Architects:
See below for some before and after images. The storefront was stripped of several generations of alterations and restored to something close to its original condition

We are in the design phase of a new home by Neiman Architects. David Neiman had some spec plans for a lot that we purchased, and we liked the plans enough to meet with him and see the possibilities. What a great fit! They are a group of bright people, with a combination of experience that adds up to years. They are not afraid of technology, pushing the envelope, and being creative. Willing to work around us when we dig our heels in on certain aspects, and to help us learn the areas we know nothing about.
Highly recommend them!

I am a General Contractor and have worked with David for more than a decade on projects ranging form a $5k front proch renovation to an $850k new home. David combines and excellent design sense with common sense to craft efficient, functional, comfortable and buildable projects in any genre.

Neiman Architects assisted me through the permitting process for my martial arts business. David is excellent at communicating architect speak into English and was able to speed along the permitting process through DPD (not an easy task considering the incredible bureaucracy that is DPD!). After working with another architect previously, I will only work with David in the future.

My wife and I hired David Neiman Architects to 'add a second story' to our rather plain single story house. Initially I was thinking we would pretty much have our same house except with an additional floor. What we received instead was a completely updated house that worked extremely well inside and out. We selected the General Contractor, to get us to a completed exterior and and interior to wallboard. I finished the interior of the second story. The project development and GC part of the project was completed approximately on time and Neiman Architects supported us throughout our project.

David Neiman Architects has been an incredible consultant for us over the last two years. We originally selected David and his team to work with us on a number of complex multifamily additions for properties we own. While the architecture was complex in that in involved working within existing physically constrained spaces, the true challenge of the work had to do with understanding the land use code, building code, and how to successfully interact with the city to achieve our goals.
We choose DNA because of David's experience with the recent rewrite of the land use code for the zone our first project was in and thank goodness we did. He has excelled in that vein, consistently turning "hope" into reality. David can navigate the city processes and effectively work within the code with amazing proficiency. I put him in the "best of the business" in this category.
David also understands Architecture extremely well, knows how to design attractive space and maximize the value of each square foot. Most importantly, David and his team listens to the client and delivers with minimal iterations. In our experience, David's team was able to take our design requests and implement them as we requested while meeting the code and only adding minor nuances which still aligned with our original thinking. Whether developing an apartment or building a house, this genuine interest in achieving the client's goals and ability to listen is incredibly valuable.
Since the first project we have continued to hire DNA over and over again and we will continue to work with David Neiman Architects for as long as the company will take our business.
