Nicely Done Kitchens

We are happy with the overall look of the kitchen, but the experience was less than stellar. The project took 9 months to truly complete and communication was always initiated by us.

Why did we choose them for our kitchen and master bath remodel and what did we get? 1) Professional Visual Design - We took bids from several contractors. Most that gave us any confidence that they would show up to work after they took their deposit and could competently execute the work didn’t give us plan we could see in a 3D model with customizable views. Kate Couchman worked with us tirelessly, first coming up with a dozen possible floorplans to meet our functional needs then in choosing the materials that would complete the aesthetics. It took a few weeks of appointments but we custom-designed every drawer, appliance, tile arrangement, and light fixture. Every other contractor interviewed gave us a sketch or two, but I’m not tearing down my abode on a sketch and a prayer. With NDK we got to see a realistic model before we committed. 2) Materials - Another key feature was that once we had everything selected, Olivia Kwon made sure that all of the materials were purchased and delivered to our home in time for the project. Most contractors who bid our job included (for roughly similar labor quotes) the dreaded “Customer will provide all required materials”. Umm... so... does anyone have any idea how stressful it would be to have to track down and buy guesstimates of the proper quantities of tile, flooring, fixtures, etc? Don’t underestimate this task when you’re signing up for labor-only contractors. 3) Quality Work - NDK hires well-known subs with good reputations to perform the work. Sure, you’re paying for the “pass-thru” but I guess I’d rather pay for someone who’s worked in the area for 30 years with lots of references and a trail of great work on Houzz than some random from Yelp (let’s be real here - these are 5-figure and 6-figure projects). 4) Schedule - Ever hire a contractor who doesn’t show up to work, leaves your house a mess, and doesn’t give you a clue as to when or if they will finish? NDK gives a clear schedule at the outset of the job and sticks to it. You can see measurable progress each day and feel confident that the work will be done as promised without price or schedule overruns. I suppose it’s patently unfair to rate a company high or low based on your own expectations of value. Again we aren’t all able to do it ourselves. I tend to rate based on my experience and how I was treated. NDK treated us well. They provided a level of handholding I couldn’t find anywhere else in the one job I wanted to feel comfortable getting help on. We had a completed design before work started, a firm schedule of major milestones, all the materials purchased and delivered for us, and excellent communication with the design and construction team through the process. What ELSE can you possibly want?

This review is long overdue, but I've been so busy enjoying my beautiful, new kitchen that I haven't had a chance to leave a review until now. Our dated kitchen was in dire need of a complete overhaul and I was thrilled to discover Nicely Done Kitchens. I had interviewed another kitchen remodel company, but was disappointed with the boring design they proposed not to mention how high the quote was. After meeting with Kate (a designer at Nicely Done Kitchens), I knew I had found the company I wanted to work with. Kate is nothing short of AMAZING! Not only does she have an incredible eye for design, she is a lot of fun to work with. She spent a lot of time during our initial meeting asking questions to better understand how we wanted our new kitchen to function. Based on our meeting, I was excited for our next appointment to see what she would come up with. The overall design Kate proposed exceeded my expectations! Everything from the cabinetry, countertops, to the finishes she proposed were exactly "my style." Without a doubt, she designed my dream kitchen. After signing the contract and before the work was to begin, Kate met with me many times to finalize the plan and to make sure everything was perfect. She was extremely patient when I started to second guess my countertop selection and even met with me at the fabricator's shop to relook at every quartz sample they had. I am forever grateful that I ultimately went with Kate's original counter recommendation -- it looks fantastic. As with any remodeling project, there were a few hiccups once construction began, but Kate along with Olivia (the project manager), and Steve (the general contractor assigned to my project) were always on top of things. Steve is a very professional and knowledgeable general contractor with years of experience. He and his skilled crew did a great job. The finished kitchen is fabulous!

Nicely Done Kitchens renovated our small master bathroom this past Spring. Their team was very proactive in all stages of planning and completion. Either Natalia or Rachel stopped by daily to check on progress and satisfaction. There was a great attention to detail!

We had Nicely Done Kitchens remodel our kitchen and one bathroom about 7 years ago and were extremely pleased with the results. When time to redo our hall bathroom, there was really only one solution-call Nicely Done Kitchens! Their designer, Kate Coachman, was wonderful in helping me verbalized what we wanted and she made it come to life with her drawings and simulation. She helped me quickly pick out colors and accessories. The preinstallation meetings were very helpful to understand the flow of the work and what to expect. The project manager, Olivia Kwon, was outstanding in keeping us informed and keeping the project on schedule. We love our new bathroom!!

Nicely Done Kitchens did a wonderful job remodeling our kitchen. Jackie is amazing designer. She listened to our needs and preferences, gave us great recommendations and options, and then worked with us to keep the project within our budget. Very importantly, Nicely Done was about the only contractor we got a bid from who would commit to completing the project before Christmas. They finished on time, as promised! The end result is spectacular--both visually and functionally. Steve and his team who did the actual construction work were very professional and did high quality work. And the rest of the Nicely Done team (Rachel, Tom, Olivia) were there for major deliveries, answered our questions along the way, and kept us informed about the next steps throughout the project. We couldn't be happier about the outcome!

Nicely Done Kitchens did an excellent job on our kitchen renovation. We replaced cabinets, floors and counter tops. They were professional, clean helpful during the process. They also finished ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

Our house had not been remodeled nor redesigned in over 30 years. It was awful. Thank goodness for Nicely Done Kitchens (NDK) and designer Cathy Goss. We have a small kitchen and we feared there was not much we could do with it but what a transformation! Cathy and the entire group at NDK were professional throughout the entire project. Cathy listened to what we were hoping to achieve, things we wanted to have in our new kitchen and came up with great design. We had appointments at our house with Cathy and Keith from A&L Construction (also fabulous to work with!) Cathy, Keith and his crew worked through the plans at our house and we knew we were in good hands. When the cabinets were delivered NDK’s Project Manager was at our home to take delivery. And when the counter measuring took place Cathy was in our house overseeing the process. We really felt everything was being taken care in a most professional way. Anytime a question arose Cathy was available by phone or email and questions were resolved. I was so worried about having this work done… until we hired Nicely Done Kitchens! Cathy’s experience, knowledge, and ability to work with all of the crew really made this a successful project. Our kitchen is amazing. As they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Nicely Done Kitchens and Baths (NDKB) recently renovated our kitchen, powder, dining and living rooms; we wanted to provide some feedback. From our initial meeting we had with our designer Jackie Lluy to the last meeting we had with her to make sure the final punch list was indeed final there is only one word that comes to mind: FLAWLESS! We have owned homes in the DC metro area for over 25 years, and have had a number of contractors performing renovations, services, and home-related repairs during that time. When many of these contractors return our calls, we feel as if we are just another work order and have not seen pride in their work. They were consistently late with deliverables, over budget, and full of excuses. In stark contrast, this was certainly NOT the case with NDKB. We have been envisioning our dream kitchen for over a decade so you can imagine the forethought we had been considering for every detail. We had a very good friend that did extensive research and decided to use NDKB for her renovations. We were so impressed by the job they did for her, that we decided we didn't need to look any further! We have a town home that was built in the early 80's; very segregated room concept, bad "flow" and severely outdated kitchen, living room, dining room, and powder room. Our designer Jackie was absolutely amazing. She spent several hours with us to get a "feel" for our home, and asked very detailed questions to find out our specific expectations for the renovation. She listened very carefully to our desires and drafted the plans accordingly. We did not have any significant changes to any of her recommendations, coming from a very detail-oriented CPA that says quite a lot! She was with us every step of the way to guide us, make recommendations, and work together to achieve our desired results. We did extensive renovations on over 1,000 square feet of our town home - the entire "middle" level was gutted and replaced. NDK came in ON TIME AND WITHIN BUDGET. Quality work, on schedule with stellar communication is priceless. There is no way to fully express the pride in craftsmanship that Steve Endress and his crew put into every detail of our renovation. He was extra careful to ensure that every detail was absolutely perfect from the very beginning to the end of the process. The communication with the entire team was amazing. Everyone was so responsive; as soon as I would send an email or a text any time, day or night, week day or weekend I would always get a quick response. Cheers to you NDKB, you greatly exceeded our every expectation. We strongly encourage anyone considering having your kitchen remodeled to STOP LOOKING and go to NDKB. You will be amazed what their team can do to make your dream a reality!
