Nick and his team did a very effective job of rebuilding my upper rooom and garage after significant dry rot damage was found. We recommend him highly.

Custom design of kitchen cabinet incorporating original lumber from the house. Counter top backsplash, and fabricated a hard wood bar top to a furniture finish in a surf board design. Also created box beam & posts, & baseboard from Monterey pine out of wood a friend milled. We get compliments all the time and the work never gets old.

Hovick design did a wide range of work on our second home in Carmel, assisting my architect-cousin with initial design, then executing a plan for a kitchen and new utilities closet, then eventually, completing an exterior hardscaping project. Along the way, Nick's crew was able to repair some new stools we ordered from a distant vendor and help with some emergency repairs on other areas win our house. I found Nick and his crew to be both conscientious, courteous, easy to communicate with, to have good design and problem solving skills, and to work with a very high level of craftsmanship and skill.

Last year Nick and his team upgraded my kitchen countertops, backsplash, gas cooktop, sink and faucet; new countertops in two bathrooms with new sinks and faucets; and a complete redo of a shower. Wonderful work and Nick was great to work with. I easily recommend him.

My wife and I would highly recommend Hovick Design for any remodeling project. He is a consummate professional with a discriminating eye for quality design, materials, and workmanship. His crew, especially his foreman, Jim Le Blanc, were also an impressive lot. They never took shortcuts or shirked their work or responsibilities. They were also very respectful and considerate of our privacy. Our house was beset with decades of neglect compounded with previous shoddy design, materials, and workmanship that was starting to render the residence non-habitable and failing to adequately meet the increasing needs of a debilitated elderly parent, who is receiving constant care. Over the course of many months, Nick was able to magically transform a rather dreadful and inadequate, shabby hovel into a pleasant, homey abode full of endearing charm. The transformation was astonishing, considering the very poor condition of the residence that was beginning to get increasingly dire with each passing month. But Nick rode to the rescue. We especially liked the proposals he made to resolve the many shortcomings of the residence. And not once did Nick ever sacrifice quality as he worked with us to keep the project within budget. Naturally, when a contractor tackles a project to remake an old residence bereft of any compliance with the standard building codes for habitability, he's going to uncover a host of problems - a can of worms is a more apt description as we were to discover about our quirky old home. Whenever this would happen, Nick would always present us with several low cost solutions/options without sacrificing quality. Because of the continuous methodical and conscience consultation, that he aptly demonstrated to us throughout the entire process, to maximize the renovation as originally budgeted, we were able to address the many other critical shortcomings of the residence that we initially did not think was possible. The result was a metamorphosis nothing short of a miracle. Not only is the house meeting the essential building codes required for a habitable residence, but it also meets the critical needs of an elderly parent that needs constant supervision and care. But the house is more than a serviceable domicile redesigned for a more efficient utilitarian function. We did a total kitchen remodel in our town house. New appliances were jointly selected and supplied by contractor. The effort spent going over our wish list and understanding what we wanted eliminated problems later. The work proceeded as planned an finished early. The quality of the work was excellent and the cleanup every day was great. There were no extra costs added to the contract. The craftsmen understood our requirements provided alternatives for us. I have used the contractor on a second smaller project in July 2017. The same attention to early planning and our requirements were provided. All items of were resolved. We will definitely use this contractor on any future projects.

Hovick Design renovated 4 rooms in our house: Den, dining room, living room, and kitchen, plus our long, angled hallway. Demolition started in October 2017, and we began using our new kitchen in January 2018. Nick Hovick is professional and very knowledgeable about his craft. We appreciated his suggestions and ideas regarding our job. From our first meeting with him in Spring 2017, to the last walk through in January, we have been very pleased with his work. Our old, dark 1960’s kitchen was completely demolished down to the bones of the house, and rebuilt to a beautiful, light, modern kitchen. Everything from the popcorn ceilings on the top, to the flooring was redone. The quality of work that Nick and his team accomplished was exceptional. And we need to add that the whole team was the BEST. They were always courteous, thoughtful, and diligent in their work. We appreciated the daily updates of work done, and a preview of what would be done the next day. Of course, there were some things that were not expected. Such as the beam in the kitchen needed to be rebuilt to code. And, as the work progressed, we requested additional fixes, which added to the initial cost estimate. We thank Hovick Design for turning our outdated living areas into a very functional and livable house! We would recommend Nick Hovick and his team for any type of home renovation.
