Want a gas fireplace? This is the place to go. We converted from a wood stove insert to a gas insert a number of years ago. Since then we've needed service a couple of times. Everyone we've interacted with (in person, on the phone, at our home) has been friendly, knowledgeable, courteous (the list of positives goes on). Needed service recently on our Valor. The fan wasn't turning on automatically. We could turn it on manually and it turned off automatically. The tech came out, but couldn't find anything significant and, essentially, did a reboot of the 'computer'. That fixed it. The display on our remote hasn't worked properly for quite some time. Shortly after this service call, it gave up altogether. I was able to sync the new remote myself. However, I was unable to get that last piece put back in place (the metal frame). They were kind enough to have a tech stop by and attach the frame for me at no charge. The service call was a minimum of $250. The remote, with shipping and tax, was $140.64.

We spent some time looking for and visiting area fireplace showrooms. Then, a family friend referred Penguin Fireplace to us — we struck gold! They have a nice place to showcase their fireplaces and they spend time demonstrating the units and explaining features. Gladys is a joy to work with. She is friendly, helpful, and responsive. Gladys was patient and periodically checked in with us during the planning phase to make sure our questions were answered and to offer help. The owner, Efrain, came to our house several times at our request to answer questions and help guide us (we decided to do the demolition part of the job ourselves.) Enrique is a master craftsman. Enrique and crew were on-site every day, all day, throughout the installation. The crew worked very well together. They put up a plastic sheet to keep dust contained to the work area. They cleaned up every day before leaving. In all, the crew installed a Mendota gas insert, installed ledge stone, built and installed bookcases and mantle, ran electrical wiring, installed and textured drywall, and painted. It’s beautiful; even better than I imagined. We found everyone at Penguin Fireplace to be professional, highly skilled, friendly, honest, and open. They delivered on time and on budget. They take pride in their work and are customer satisfaction focused. They are great!

I bought a Valor fireplace insert from Penguin after doing quite a bit of comparison shopping. We had it installed today. Everything about the transaction was terrific. I visited their well-stocked showroom in San Jose where they have various models and brands on display. Gladys was very helpful advising me on various features and offered the best price, including for installation. On several occasions, before having the unit delivered I needed to get info for my general contractor; I always got a quick and accurate response from Gladys. Charles and Tony arrived at the promised time today and did a very efficient and good-looking installation. Charles spent time demonstrating the unit and explaining how to program the remote. They cleaned-up and carted away all packing material. I highly recommend Penguin without hesitation for price and customer service.

I used Penguin Fireplace to put in my new gas log set and new metal face and screen set. Fits like a glove and looks beautiful. I'm very happy with the final finished product. Would recommend them.

Recently my wife and I visited Penguin Fireplace store (San Jose, CA) and was greeted by Galdys the representative.
