Richard was able to take inspiration from the stunning ocean views from my high rise condominium in San Diego to create an inviting and deeply personal home for me that I completely enjoy. The challenge of working long distance was easily met by working closely with Richard at my home on three key occasions to determine the scope of the project, select the key design elements together, and, most exciting of all, to bring the entire plan to completion by transforming my home over a period of five days while I was on a business trip. It was an awesome moment to return home, and the dramatic results continue to amaze me. Balancing great design with livability, Richard selected exquisite furnishings and art, rich fabrics and textures, and sophisticated accessories for every room. Richard’s good communication, calm detailed approach, and sense of humor made for an enjoyable working relationship every step of the way. Initially, we hired Richard to lead our porch renovation. His timeless design for that particular room exceeded our expectations. So naturally, when it came time to update our 90's home interior, Richard and his design team were our first call. Richard's knowledge and attention to detail is unmatched. Richard has decorated two of our homes, the last one being a year ago, in Lake Forest, IL. He is an amazingly talented and creative individual who always aspires for perfection. One of Richard strengths is that he strives to tailor the design of the home to fit the homeowners tastes and needs. We truly appreciated his ability to coordinate and implement all aspects of the project in a timely manner and with great precision to detail. We repainted the entire home before we moved in ( he has a keen sense of color), ordered new furniture, installed new window treatments and even redecorated the outdoor spaces. It was always exciting to see what unique and interesting things Richard would find for us. It has really been a pleasure to work with him and his supportive staff. Working with Richard Abrahamson on my Houston home was a true labor of love. Richard's approach to this project fit in well with my needs. He was able to take a large space and turn it into a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming home. Since this was an out of town project for him, we were able to accomplish our goals in three visits. First, he came to see the space and made some suggestions based on my style and budget. His second visit was to present his plan and together we made selections. The third visit was when everything fell into place and we had the big "reveal"! I'll never forget the feeling when all the furniture, draperies, artwork and accessories were arranged...I thought I had won the lottery! I have had the pleasure of working with Richard Abrahamson of RJA Design on both of our homes. The first project began several years ago when we completed a 2-story addition and faced the challenge of blending the spaces. Richard exceeded our expectations and created a home that combines our tastes along with his dynamic style and flair.
