Welcome to 3rd story. Our mission statement “the Perfection of Place” A process of design mastery, always learning, updating refining into a seamless integration. The firm’s principle architect and founder started his namesake firm Rick Daugherty in 1983. The firm has grown and prospered over the years and recently re-branded its vision into its new name 3rd story, a boutique high end design studio, serving the client that is looking for a central design source of a focused and well-orchestrated project of All the design elements to serve a singular vision. Much like a musical score needs a masterful director, a custom project requires a vision of the totality of the musical piece and never a group of soloists playing loudly to be heard. This vision guides the director to feature talent as it best serves the musical score. The right balance is inclusive of the entire orchestra from the violinist to the strategic strike of the wood block, from architect and interiors to landscape and lighting that all serve the projects musical score. Rick has taken his years of design experience and visionary creativity to incorporate each design element into a functional balanced focused art-form reflective of the client’s lifestyle and exceeding their expectations. He does this by listening to his clients’ stories and feeling their souls, understanding their current and future lifestyles, incorporating their functional and technology desires, guiding to prudent choices and educating to the whys all along the way. This direction is the orchestrating of these elements and into their Requiem.
