This was a completely new experience for me. A damp, dark and, quite frankly, creepy basement was to be given a new lease of life. Robert initially came to visit and simply listened- a lot! He asked good questions which allowed us to think about exactly what we wanted. Our house was built in 1902 so we wanted a design that was in keeping with the architecture but had its own style and personality too. His ideas were inspiring. Our damp basement became a spare bedroom, bathroom, study, utility and cinema room. Robert oversaw all aspects of the build- any issues were dealt with promptly and with good humour. Best of all was that this was all set off with an extension of a garden room- this flooded in the light and has become our favourite place to sit. it was completed on time and within our budget. i could not recommend him highly enough.

Robert Johnston designed the extension of our semi- detached house. He met with my husband and myself initially to hear what we wanted. He then came up with detailed plans for the extension. We were impressed by his knowledge of the planning and building regulations and our application was then granted by the council. He appointed an engineer to draw up plans for the actual building work. He then asked 3 different building firms to tender for the extension. Once the builder was appointed and work began he closely supervised the work. Regular meetings were arranged and deadlines for each stage of the work plus staged payments were agreed. Any problems were swiftly dealt with including snagging after the project was completed. My husband and I were both delighted with the completed extension.

RObert and his wife Anika were instrumental in assisting and advising us on the substantial home improvements we have now completed. His design skills aligned to practical suggestions and applications have proven invaluable. He worked expertly with our builder and this lead to an all together painless process. Any wrinkles we did find or that were created were worked through and ironed out without any stress. Robert has an expert working knowledge of the local planning laws and processes that came in handy too! We continue to have contact with Robert and are delighted to recommend his services. As nervous first time developers we couldn't have been in better hands.
