Scenic Landscape and Design

I worked with Launa to get my home ready for resale. She had creative ideas but one in particular stands out. I wanted to avoid a costly set of steps coming off of a deck right before the sale of the house. She recommended taking three large plant pots that were laying off to the side of my yard, plant trees in them, and use them as a border for that edge of the deck. Not only was it cost effective, it looked fabulous, and added color and interest with to the space. Launa also generously gave of her time to brainstorm ideas to beautify Laguna Middle School yard, San Luis Obispo. Again, because the PTA was paying for the project and we didn't have a lot of funds, she saw not only what we didn't like, she saw ways to use natural, established pathways, plants, and make meaningful, visually pleasing changes without breaking the bank. Launa is easy to work with, has refreshing ideas, and has a Zen-i-ness about her and her approach.

As a client, I have the owner complete autonomy to redesign my decks. When completed I was pleasantly surprised by the intuitive choices to highlight the spaces. In addition my old pants were recycled to a different area in front of my place. The new choice of plants which added color and shape to a small space was fantastic. My project was three decks, which were transformed into additions to the interior space they were connected to. Overall the choice has made the plants easy to maintain, now we have cycled through a few seasons, and they still look fresh and the accomplishment of upgrading the pots adds value to my property.

Launa has brought life and color to my decks and patios. I had no idea where to go, to figure out what would make a beautiful and healthy atmosphere for plants and flowers I wanted so much so they could brighten up these spaces. Her knowledge of plants/flowers/containers and such, along with her artful eye, and thoroughness to detail was heaven sent. I am not the only one who gets to appreciate these lovelies - where I live now, my neighbors are enjoying the same, and we all have Launa to thank for it! She has brought pretty patios to two apartments for me now, and I couldn't be more satisfied and inspired.

I engaged Scenic L&D (previously dba Pretty Patios) in 2009, and on a couple of occasions since, to redesign & replant extensive parts of my garden. The work included a lot of plant selection, the installation of a terraced stone & slate patio, and other landscape enhancements in a large old hillside garden. Launa Taylor is a knowledgeable and imaginative designer. She is conscientious, honest & fun to work with. Initially I thought she was expensive, until I compared her bills to the cost of similar projects in Marin County, when I realized her prices were quite reasonable. Her crew chief, Saul, is the best garden worker of the many I've employed over the past 25 years.
