We urgently needed a kitchen renovation so got 7 quotes and asked each company if they could do a Bauhaus concept. They all said resoundingly YES, except for Sean. He said he had to do some research. The other quotes came in and the designs were just terrible. It was obvious immediately they had no idea what Bauhaus was. Sean somehow came in with just a perfectly intuitive initial design, which is when I found out that he had been to art school. What you're getting with Sean is someone who thrives on creativity and innovation, which happened to be just what we were looking for. If you don't want creativity and innovation, or maybe just a little but not too much, I'm sure that's fine too and I expect Sean does more of those projects than what he did for us. But if you want to get the most out of Sean and his creative thinking skills that you will find hard to come by elsewhere, get ready for fun. You may just end up with a fantastic kitchen that you didn't know was possible. That's what happened to us.

They did a wonderful job of fixing my mess of our kitchen cabinets. Very inventive and imaginative. No body else wanted to fix them. They all wanted to replace. It now looks like new. Thanks so much to Rod and Sean. Very reasonably priced.

We loved working with Sean! He listened to our ideas for the kitchen, and came up with an amazing design—including a big island, a clever wine rack tucked in next to the refrigerator, and efficient use of cabinet space. We wanted to do some of the work ourselves, and Sean was great about working around our schedule.

It was a pleasure to have Sean work on our kitchen re-model. His openness to take on our own ideas and his contributions to giving us the final product we wanted were outstanding. The project was delayed by the onset of the pandemic but was completed in a safe and timely manner when it became possible to work again. Sean kindly came to our home and rehung some of our commercially made kitchen cabinet doors that had broken. I was not really expecting him to even reply to our request which was by email so when he did we were very impressed. He came quickly, did the job well and was very professional. I would definitely call upon him if we were in the market to have some cabinetry done. His work is beautiful.

Sean went over and above and even came back years later to fix a hardware defect. Highly recommend for artistry and professionalism.

We had the genuine pleasure of working with Sean, as we hired him to do most of the cabinetry in our new home. This was an extensive job that included our kitchen, main entrance, mudroom and master bathroom. He also did the wood railing for our staircase. We wanted a very contemporary, Scandinavian-inspired look that broke up a light, white look with warm white Oak elements. While we worked on the general design with a wonderful designer from Vancouver, Sean helped us translate the drawings into stunning and functional spaces that give us such joy on a daily basis. We were so impressed by how Sean helped us trouble-shoot, when the drawings needed to be modified to fit our space. He was also excellent at suggesting small modifications to the design to further enhance storage space and utility. We are absolutely thrilled with the finished results. They are true professionals and the quality of their millwork, customer service and craftsmanship is topnotch.

Sean built us a beautiful and functional kitchen for the Cedar Coast Field Station on Vargas Island, B.C. We needed a versatile kitchen that is suitable for the stations many functions, which include self catered school groups of up to 30, fully catered adult education workshops, and small communal dinners with staff and visiting researchers. Sean worked with us to come up with design solutions that were practical, aesthetically appealing and fit within our budget. I highly recommend this company for any kitchen installation or renovation.

Working with Sean was a genuine pleasure. He is a very approachable professional who is creative, insightful & accommodating all the while maintaining good humour and a positive attitude. Counterculture designed and built a double sink bathroom vanity that turned out great. Though we live in a small community I was not aware of his business except through my contractor. I would hire him again. His drawings kept us informed and we actually did not have direct contact with him until installation. We were so pleased that the rendering fitted our wishes. The vanity was delivered in the time frame necessary to fit into our bathroom remodel project and at budget. He and his helper were friendly and showed an interest in our whole bathroom remodel project.

The kitchen is the heart and soul of our house, it's where we gather with friends and family, it's also the place where I spend most of my days so it also needs to be a super functional workspace. I had some very strong ideas about work flow and aesthetics and not only was Sean able to collaborate with me but he came up with better ways to execute and create the space I was longing for. He is an incredible craftsman – every new guest who comes into the space compliments the beautiful island he built out of fir. Our kitchen has hosted many chefs who love to work in the space, many big gatherings, and also works functionally day in and day out for our family. We love this timeless kitchen!

Sean is professional, creative, efficient and a joy to work with. Highly recommended! I'd hire him again in a wink and am in fact plotting to do my next kitchen with Counterculture!
